''Euchloe ausonides'', the large marble or creamy marblewing, is a species of butterfly that occurs in western North America. It lays eggs on the terminal flower buds of a variety of plants in the mustard family, including introduced Eurasian species, and the larvae feed on the buds, flowers and fruit of these plants. In California, it has witnessed population declines since the 1980s, especially in the Central Valley and the Bay Area, and in Washington, its subspecies the island marble butterfly (''Euchloe ausonides'' ssp. ''insulanus'') is a candidate for listing under the Endangered Species Act. Description The caterpillar is a dark green to a bluish gray color that is covered in black dots. ''Euchloe ausonia'', the eastern dappled white, is a southern European and Palearctic butterfly found mostly to the south and east of its almost indistinguishable relative the western dappled white. Description The wingspan is 36–48 mm. The forewings are white with black tips and a black spot. The underside is characterized by black and yellow scales , which create a greenish-white pattern. The female is generally darker. The two generations differ in pattern. The colour of the caterpillar varies from yellowish to greenish to bluish. It has obvious side stripes. ''Euchloe crameri'', the western dappled white, is a butterfly in the family Pieridae. Description Fore and hind wings pearly white on the upperside, with a black apex , mottled white.
