Ethereal (foaled 16 November 1997) is a New Zealand thoroughbred horse racing, racehorse. The mare (horse), mare is best known for winning the 2001 Melbourne Cup. Background Ethereal is a bay mare owned and bred by brothers Peter and Phillip Vela, who own Pencarrow Stud and New Zealand Bloodstock. Ethereal was sired by the American Champion Two-Year-Old Colt, 1989 U.S. Champion 2-Yr-Old Colt and Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner, Rhythm (horse), Rhythm (USA). Her grandsire was the very influential Leading sire in North America, Champion sire Mr. Prospector. Her dam was Romanee Conti (horse), Romanee Conti, a Hong Kong Cup winner and a daughter of leading sire Sir Tristram (IRE). Ethereal was trained during her racing career by Sheila Laxon. Obie Rudolph (born July 10, 1989), known professionally as Ethereal, is an American rapper and record producer from Atlanta, Georgia. He is known as an early collaborator of American rapper Playboi Carti, who credits Rudolph with refining his sound. Early life Obie Rudolph was born July 10, 1989 in Atlanta, Georgia. The rapper and producer was born with sacral agenesis, a birth defect that affects the development of the spine. Rudolph is disabled and uses a wheelchair. Career Career beginnings In an interview with The Fader, Ethereal stated that his interest in making music began at the age of 16. He was influenced to create music by many of his friends around him who wanted to pursue rapping.
