Etbin Kristan
Etbin Kristan (15 April 1867 – 22 November 1953) was a Slovenian labour leader and Social Democratic politician and writer during the late- Austrian-Hungarian and the Yugoslav monarchy. Biography Kristan was born in Ljubljana, Duchy of Carniola, Austria-Hungary (now the capital of Slovenia) and baptized ''Ethbin''. He attended high school in Ljubljana and in Zagreb. After finishing high school, he enrolled in the military school in Karlovac. In 1887, he quit the military, moved to Vienna, and dedicated himself to journalism. In Vienna, he became active in the labor movement. In 1896, he co-founded the Yugoslav Social Democratic Party (JSDS), and served as its chairman until 1914. Kristan belonged to the left wing of the party. He was one of the mastermind of non-territorial autonomy, but was not able to convince his comrades from other Austrian social Democratic parties. Josip Ferfolja
Josip Ferfolja (27 September 1880 – 11 December 1958) was a Slovene lawyer and social democratic politician, and human rights activist from the Province of Gorizia. Although he was an Italian citizen for most of his life, he considered himself foremost a Slovenian. In Austria-Hungary He was born in the village of Doberdò del Lago () in what was then the Austro-Hungarian County of Gorizia and Gradisca (now part of the Italian Province of Gorizia). He attended high school in Gorizia, an important Slovene educational centre at the time; Ferfolja's school friends included historian Bogumil Vošnjak, economist Milko Brezigar, poet Alojz Gradnik, writer Ivan Pregelj, literary historian Avgust Žigon, and the prelate Luigi Fogar. In 1901, he moved to Prague, where he studied law at the Charles University.
