Et Sans
Et Sans was a Canadian experimental rock band from Montreal. Their music was characterized by lengthy compositions with lyrics in French, combined with loud, distortion-filled electronic and instrumental sounds with a heavy bass beat . History The band was formed by former Godspeed You! Black Emperor guitarist Roger Tellier-Craig and Alexandre St-Onge from the Shalabi Effect. The duo released their first album, '' l'Autre'', in 2001 on the Locust Music label. After expanding their group to include Felix Morel, Sophie Trudeau, and Stephen De Oliveira, they recorded '' Par Noussss Touss Les Trous de Vos Crânes!'', their second album in 2005. Alien8 Recordings Artists
Alien8 Recordings is an independent record label founded in 1996 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The label was founded by Sean O'Hara and Gary Worsley. The label released material from prominent noise artists such as Merzbow, Think About Life, Aube, Keiji Haino, Masonna, MSBR, Francisco López, Bastard Noise, and Daniel Menche, as well as electronic artists such as Tim Hecker, Lesbians on Ecstasy, Les Georges Leningrad, and Books on Tape. Alien8 also is known for releasing the 2003 debut of indie-pop band The Unicorns. It also had two sub-labels, Fancy Recordings and Substractif, which released music from 2001-2004. In 2018, Worsley bought Montreal's famed record store Cheap Thrills, where he had been working since 1998. Alien8 has not released any music since 2011. Music Of Quebec
Like many cosmopolitan cities, Quebec is a home for all genres of music. From folk music to hip hop, music has always played an important role in Quebecer culture. In the 1920s and '30s singer/songwriter Madam Bolduc performed comedic songs in a folk style with Irish influences. Quebec's most popular artists of the last century include the singers: Félix Leclerc (1950s), Gilles Vigneault (1960s–present), Kate and Anna McGarrigle (1970s–present) and Céline Dion (1980s–present). The First Nations and the Inuit of Quebec also have their own traditional music. A local variety of Celtic music is also found. ''Par Noussss Touss Les Trous de Vos Crânes!'' is the second album of Et Sans. It was released in April 2005 by Alien8 Recordings, their first album on the record label. The album is composed of four tracks, of which three go above the ten-minute mark. The titles of the tracks are semi-sensical French sentences, and in several cases, spaces between words are deliberately misplaced or absent.
