Estádio Municipal Carlos Zamith is a multi-use stadium in Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil. It is used mostly for football matches, and has a maximum capacity of 6,500 people. Initially projected to be a training center for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the construction of the stadium began on 5 August 2013, and had an initial cost of R$ 14 million. Named after Carlos Zamith, a notable sports journalist of the state who had died at the time, the stadium had a symbolic inauguration on 24 May 2014, with state governor José Melo de Oliveira providing the first kick. The Brazilian Football Confederation (, CBF) is the governing body of football in Brazil. It was founded on Monday, 8 June 1914, as , and renamed Confederação Brasileira de Desportos in 1916. José Melo De Oliveira
José Melo de Oliveira (born September 26, 1946) is a Brazilian politician and was governor of state of Amazonas, Brazil. Melo graduated with a degree in economics from the Federal University of Amazonas in 1967. He began public life while still at the university, where he served in various roles, including as a typist, director of the Department of Education and Sports, Subrector for Academic Affairs, and as a member of the University Council. Later, he worked as a teacher of history at Estelita Tapajós High School in Manaus. He also taught at the former Federal Technical School of Amazonas, and was a professor at the Federal University of Amazonas between 1970 and 1984. He won the election for Governor of the state of Amazonas in 2014 as a member of the Republican Party of the Social Order.
