Estonian Science Communication Award
The Estonian Science Communication Award ( et, Eesti teaduse populariseerimise auhind) is an Estonian award given to an individual or group for the popularization of science since 2006. The award is financed by the Ministry of Education and Research and is issued jointly by the Estonian Academy of Sciences and the Estonian Research Council. The award is presented in six categories: *The lifetime achievement award for long-term systematic popularization of science and technology; *Popularization of science and technology through audiovisual and electronic media; *Popularization of science and technology through print media; *Activities or series of activities popularizing science and technology; *The best researcher, journalist, or teacher popularizing science and technology; and *The best new initiative in popularizing science and technology. Stanislav Netšvolodov
Stanislav Netšvolodov (also Netchvolodov, born August 2, 1935, in Kyiv) is an Estonian sculptor and medal artist. He is a professor at Jagiellonian University. Stanislav Netšvolodov has created bronze, wood, and stone sculptures and monuments. He is also involved with painting and graphics. Netšvolodov's hobby is medal art, and he has created several medals for the University of Tartu (including the university's honorary doctorate medal and the ). Education Netšvolodov graduated from the Kyiv Civil Engineering Institute in 1959 with a degree in architecture. Career Netšvolodov started creating sculptures in 1962, and he worked at a private sculpture studio in Irkutsk. From 1966 to 1970, he was the chairman of the Irkutsk branch of the Russian Union of Architects. Mari Uusküla (until July 1, 2005 Mari Bogatkin; born January 23, 1980) is an Estonian linguist. Early life and education Uusküla is the daughter of the ceramist Georg Bogatkin and the granddaughter of the artists Vladimir Bogatkin and Valli Lember-Bogatkina. Uusküla graduated from in 1998 and from the University of Tartu's Faculty of Arts and Humanities in 2003, majoring in Hungarian.
