Esther Matiko
Esther Matiko (born November 24, 1976) is a Tanzanian politician. She is from the opposition Chama cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo CHADEMA party. She was a Member of Parliament for Tarime Urban. Since 2020 she is serving under women special seat member. Background and education Matiko was born on November 24, 1976, at KIONGERA village Eastern Tarime. She joined at Kiongera primary school in 1985 for her primary education, then joined at Mwema secondary in 1992 and finished her secondary schooling in A-level at Nganza High School in 1998. She received her Bachelors of Science in Home Economics and Nutrition from the Sokoine University of Agriculture in 2002. In 2005, she completed her MBA from the University of Dar es Salaam. Between 2000 and 2006, she worked for a number of private companies. She was a lecturer at the University of Dar es Salaam between 2006 and 2016. 2015 Tanzanian General Election
General elections were held in Tanzania on 25 October 2015. Voters elected the president, members of Parliament, and local government councillors. By convention, the election was held on the last Sunday of October and was supervised by the National Electoral Commission (NEC). Political campaigns commenced on 22 August and ceased a day before the polling day. The incumbent president, Jakaya Kikwete, was ineligible to be elected to a third term because of term limits. Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), the country's dominant ruling party, selected Works Minister John Magufuli as its presidential nominee instead of the front-runner, former Prime Minister Edward Lowassa. Freeman Mbowe
Freeman Aikaeli Mbowe (born 14 September 1961) is a Tanzanian politician and the current nominated chairman of the Chama cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (Chadema – Political Party for Democracy and Development). He was elected to continue as a National Assembly member representing the Hai District in the Kilimanjaro Region as per the 2015 general election. Mbowe was elected to the National Assembly in 2000 representing Hai Constituency (Kilimanjaro Region). He won 64.5% of the vote, which was the highest percentage of votes won among constituencies with opposition MP's. In preparation for the 2005 elections, Mbowe was nominated to represent Chadema as their presidential candidate for the 2005 presidential elections. Civic United Front
The Civic United Front (CUF; sw, Chama Cha Wananchi, ) is a liberal party in Tanzania. Although nationally based, most of the CUF's support comes from the Zanzibar islands of Unguja and Pemba. The party is a member of Liberal International. History The Civic United Front was formed on 28 May 1992 through a merger of two formerly existing movements - KAMAHURU, a pressure group for democratization in Zanzibar, and the Civic Movement, a human rights organization based on the mainland.
