Ester Ferrabini
Ester Ferrabini (October 12, 1885 – July 28, 1984) was an Italian opera singer. Early life Ester Ada Maria Ferrabini was born in Venice, the daughter of Marcello Ferrabini, a college professor, and Lucina Pivetta Ferrabini. Career Ferrabini had her opera debut in 1905, in Brescia. She toured North America with the Ruggero Leoncavallo company in 1906, and moved to the United States in 1908. She toured the American West in 1917 with Maggie Teyte and Nina Morgana in the Philadelphia La Scala Opera Company, La Scala Grand Opera Company. She also sang in Mexico City in 1917. Boston Pops Orchestra
The Boston Pops is an American orchestra based in Boston, Massachusetts, specializing in light classical and popular music. The orchestra's current music director is Keith Lockhart. Founded in 1885 as an offshoot of the Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO), the Boston Pops primarily consists of musicians from the BSO, although generally not all of the first-chair players. The orchestra performs a spring season of popular music and a holiday program in December. For the Pops, the seating on the floor of Symphony Hall is reconfigured from auditorium seating to banquet and cafe seating. The Pops also plays an annual concert at the Hatch Memorial Shell on the Esplanade every Fourth of July. Their performances of Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture" and Sousa's " The Stars and Stripes Forever" are famous for howitzer cannons firing and fireworks exploding during the former and the unfurling of the American flag that occurs near the end of the latter. Portofino
Portofino (; ) is a ''comune'' located in the Metropolitan City of Genoa on the Italian Riviera. The town is clustered around its small harbour, and is known for the colourfully painted buildings that line the shore. Since the late 19th century, Portofino has attracted tourism of the European aristocracy and it is now a resort for the world's jet set. History Pliny the Elder (AD 23 – AD 79) referred to (Port of the Dolphin) as on the Ligurian coast between Genoa and the Gulf of Tigullio. Santa Margherita Ligure () is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Genoa in the Italian region Liguria, located about southeast of Genoa, in the area traditionally known as Tigullio. William Carlos Williams (September 17, 1883 – March 4, 1963) was an American poet and physician closely associated with modernism and imagism. His '' Spring and All'' (1923) was written in the wake of T. S. Eliot's '' The Waste Land'' (1922). In his five-volume poem '' Paterson'' (1946–1958), he took Paterson, New Jersey as "my 'case' to work up. It called for a poetry such as I did not know, it was my duty to discover or make such a context on the 'thought.'"
