Essa Al-Kandari
Essa Ahmad Al-Kandari ( ar, عيسى احمد الكندري; born 10 February 1963) is a Kuwaiti politician who has served in the National Assembly since 2023. He is also the current Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of National Assembly & Cabinet Affairs serving since 2013. Al-Kandari is the former deputy speaker of the 2016 National Assembly. He was the former Minister of Communications, Municipality, Housing, Social Affairs & Awqaf. Political career Essa Al-Kandari was born on February 10, 1963, in Kuwait. He has a diploma from the Commercial Institute on the speciality of Commercial Banks. Before politics he used to work in Kuwait Airways. He first ran for parliament in the February 2012 election in the first district. He lost getting only 4858 votes. He won his first election in 2013 getting 3326 votes. 2024 Kuwaiti General Election
Snap general elections were held in Kuwait on 4 April 2024 to elect 50 of the 65 members of the National Assembly. 2023 Kuwaiti General Election
Snap general elections were held in Kuwait on 6 June 2023 to elect 50 of the 65 members of the National Assembly. The elections took place following the annulment of the results of the 2022 snap elections by the Constitutional Court on 19 March 2023 and the redissolution of the 16th session on 2 May. Background During the 16th legislative session, uncooperative MPs and ministers led to multiple no-confidence votes and several government resignations. Actions such as members sitting in ministers' seats in the parliament, led to ministers not attend sessions, which in turn resulted in a member-organized sit-in in the parliament building. This prompted Crown Prince Mishal Al-Ahmad to dissolve parliament on 2 August 2022. Multiple former MPs and citizens appealed to the Constitutional Court to overturn the dissolution. Jamaan Al-Harbash
Jamaan Al-Harbash was a member of the Kuwaiti National Assembly, representing the second district. Against Falcon Smuggling On April 17, 2007, Al-Harbash and other MPs submitted documents to parliament claiming that several falcon shipments for "influential people" had been imported recently without proper testing. Kuwat banned bird imports as an avian influenza precaution, but the ban was eased since July 2006. Al-Harbash sees the smuggling as an example of corruption that puts the country at risk for bird flu: "Lifting the ban on falcons was a catastrophe.
