Espéraza
Espéraza (; ) is a commune in the Aude department in southern France. It lies on the Aude just north of the foothills of the Pyrenees. Population History * The church was built during the 13th century. * One of the old pilgrimage routes to ''Santiago de Compostela'' passes this way, through the mountains and on into Spain. * In the early 20th century, Espéraza was known for hat making. The town has a Hat Making Museum. Around 1815, the village experienced a considerable economic growth thanks to Bugarach hatters who settled there. First in 1830 and then in 1878 Espéraza enjoyed a prosperous period due to headwear, encouraged by the arrival of the railway. The Aude (; ; Latin ''Atax'' ) is a river of southern France that is long. Its source is in the Pyrenees mountains then runs to Carcassonne and finally reaches the Mediterranean Sea near Narbonne. The river is navigable by raft or canoe for nearly all of its length. It is registered as essential to the Languedoc-Roussillon region. Dinosauria (museum)
Dinosauria is a museum devoted to dinosaurs in Espéraza, Aude, a ''département'' of southern France. Opened in 1992, it is directed by the association which created it, which is also named ''Dinosauria''. The museum exhibits at least 35 different species of dinosaurs, mounted skeletons or life-size models. It also shows documentary films to the public. The museum collections and rooms include skeletons, paleontological workshops and some other elements. In 2007, the museum received the complete skeleton of an '' Ampelosaurus atacis'' specimen, found six years earlier (2001) during excavations in Bellevue (''Bèlavista'' in Occitan), in the town of Campagne-sur-Aude (''Campanha d'Aude'' in Occitan). The Corbières Massif ( ; ; ) is a mountain range in the Pre-Pyrenees. It is the only true foothill of the Pyrenees on their northern side. The Pyrenees are a mountain range straddling the border of France and Spain.
