Escape To Nowhere (1973 Film)
''Escape to Nowhere'' (, also known as ''The Great Manhunt'') is a 1973 Franco-Italian thriller film directed by Claude Pinoteau, and starring Lino Ventura. It is an adaptation of the novel ''Drôle de pistolet'' by Francis Ryck (1969). Plot When a Soviet scientific delegation arrives in London, the British secret services kidnap one of its members and pass him off as dead. He is in fact a French scientist, Clément Tibère, kidnapped by the KGB sixteen years earlier. Refusing to collaborate at first for fear of pressure and death threats, Tibère ends up agreeing to denounce the corrupt English scientists participating in the delegation. The British then release him under a new identity. But, immediately, the KGB hunts him down. He then tries to return to France and find a way to escape the manhunt. Claude Pinoteau
Claude Pinoteau (; 25 May 1925 – 5 October 2012) was a French film director and scriptwriter. Born in Boulogne-Billancourt, Hauts de Seine, Île-de-France (region), Île-de-France, France. He died in Neuilly-sur-Seine, aged 87. (in French) His sister was the actress Arlette Merry, and his brother was the director Jack Pinoteau, Jacques Pinoteau. Leo Genn
Leopold John Genn ( ; 9 August 1905 – 26 January 1978) was an English actor and barrister. Distinguished by his relaxed charm and smooth, "black velvet" voice, he had a lengthy career in theatre, film, television and radio, often playing aristocratic or gentlemanly, sophisticated roles. Born to a Jewish family in London, Genn was educated as a lawyer and was a practising barrister until after World War II, in which he had served in the Royal Artillery as a lieutenant-colonel.
