Essex
Essex () is a county in the East of England. One of the home counties, it borders Suffolk and Cambridgeshire to the north, the North Sea to the east, Hertfordshire to the west, Kent across the estuary of the River Thames to the south, and Greater London to the south and south-west. Sædding
Sædding is a district of Esbjerg in southwest Jutland, Denmark, some northwest of the centre and southeast of Hjerting. History Once a village, Sædding (originally ''Sæthum'', later also ''Sæddæn'') has now become a district of Esbjerg. In the 1970s, a large Viking village was discovered in the northern part of Sædding covering . In the central area, there were six or seven farmhouses surrounding an extensive open area measuring by . The main buildings, up to in length, were accompanied by smaller structures including workshops for weavers and smiths. In all, there were 115 farmhouses, 75 workshops and seven wells. The village had existed for some 200 years until the 11th century. One of Denmark's oldest Christian crosses crafted in bronze was found at the site. Man Meets The Sea
''Men at Sea'' or ''Man meets the sea'' ( Danish: ''Mennesket ved Havet'') is a 9-metre (30 feet) tall white monument of four seated males, located west of Esbjerg next to Sædding Beach on the southwest coast of Denmark. Located opposite the Fisheries and Maritime Museum, it is one of the area's major tourist attractions, and is a landmark of Esbjerg. The sculpture was designed by Svend Wiig Hansen and installed on 28 October 1995. It was funded by the Municipality of Esbjerg, Statens Kunstfond (an art fund), and multiple private sponsors, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the municipality in 1994. Jørn Utzon
Jørn Oberg Utzon, , Hon. FAIA (; 9 April 191829 November 2008) was a Danish architect. He was most notable for designing the Sydney Opera House in Australia, completed in 1973. When it was declared a World Heritage Site on 28 June 2007, Utzon became only the second person to have received such recognition for one of his works during his lifetime, after Oscar Niemeyer. Other noteworthy works include Bagsværd Church near Copenhagen and the National Assembly Building in Kuwait. He also made important contributions to housing design, especially with his Kingo Houses near Helsingør. Utzon attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (1937–42) and was influenced early on by Gunnar Asplund and Alvar Aalto.
