''Ersatz'' is the debut album by French singer Julien Doré, winner of the fifth season of the television show ''Nouvelle Star''. The album was released worldwide on 16 June 2008 on Sony BMG. It entered the French charts at number 2 and stayed in the top 200 for almost two years. Tracks 1 and 5 were written by Mark Daumail of Cocoon (band), Cocoon and featured Cocoon's other half, Morgan Imbeaud. The final track featured a duo with veteran Belgian rocker Arno Hintjens, Arno. Julien Doré (; born 7 July 1982) is a French singer-songwriter, musician and actor. He is the winner of the fifth season of the television show ''Nouvelle Star'', aired on the French Television M6 channel. Life Doré was born in Alès (Gard, Occitanie), and grew up in Lunel. After taking his baccalauréat littéraire at the college Louis Feuillade, he attended the École des Beaux-Arts of Nîmes for five years. He is the founder of the band Dig up Elvis. In 2006, he created with Guillaume de Molina the project "The Jean d'Ormesson disco suicide", "protean group" which covered pop and disco hits. In June 2007, Doré was voted number one in French ''Elle'' Magazine's "15 Sexiest Men" poll. He dated Louise Bourgoin, but the two separated in March 2009. ''Nouvelle Star'' (; also known as '' À la Recherche de la Nouvelle Star'' for the first season) is a French television series based on the popular Pop Idol programme produced by FremantleMedia. It was broadcast by M6 in seasons 1–8 before D8 aired seasons 9—12. M6 broadcast the 13th and final season. It was hosted by Benjamin Castaldi for the first three seasons (2003–2005). He also hosted 13 episodes of seasons 4 (2006). Virginie Efira presented the remainder of season 4, as well as presenting seasons 5 and 6. Virginie Guilhaume hosted seasons 7 and 8. Cocoon (band)
Cocoon is a French pop-folk band from Clermont-Ferrand (France) that sings in English. It was created in 2006 by Mark Daumail (born 6 December 1984), alongside Morgane Imbeaud. They released the albums ''My Friends all Died in a Plane Crash'' in 2007 and ''Where the Oceans End'' in 2010, which were defined by dual lead vocals from both, and by its coupling of mostly upbeat-sounding music and very dark lyrics. Cocoon entered a hiatus in 2011. Daumail then tried to reunite with Imbeaud, but she was busy with other projects and felt that the new songs were Daumail's but not hers, and encouraged him to make the next album alone. Arnold Charles Ernest Hintjens (21 May 1949 – 23 April 2022), better known by his stage name Arno, was a Belgian singer. He was the frontman of TC Matic, one of the best-known Belgian bands of the 1980s. After the band split in 1986 he enjoyed a solo career. Career Arno sang in a mixture of English, French, Dutch and his native Ostend-Flemish dialect.
