Errors (band)
Errors are a three-piece post-electro band from Glasgow, Scotland. They are signed to Rock Action Records, a Scottish independent record label founded and managed by the band Mogwai. History Errors formed as a bedroom electronic-based project in Glasgow in 2004 by members Simon Ward, Greg Paterson and Stephen Livingstone. They were signed by Post-Rock band Mogwai to their Rock Action Records imprint, who released a limited run 7" single "Hans Herman". The band followed up their debut with the ''How Clean is your Acid House?'' EP in 2006. Following the release of the EP, the band promoted former Multiplies and Dananananaykroyd drummer James Hamilton, who had performed with them on stage, to a full-time member. In summer 2007, they supported UK dance band Underworld on a UK tour. Their debut album ''It's Not Something But It Is Like Whatever'' was released on Rock Action records in June 2008. ESNS (Eurosonic Noorderslag) is an annual four-day music showcase festival and conference held in January in Groningen, the Netherlands. The first three days of the festival (Eurosonic) feature artists from all over Europe, the last day of the festival (Noorderslag) features only Dutch artists. The conference is held during all four days of the event. ''DIY'' is a United Kingdom-based music publication, in print and online. Its free print edition is released monthly with a physical circulation of 40,000 in UK venues, clubs and shops. DIY Magazine ''DIY'' was launched in 2002 by then-editor Stephen Ackroyd & Emma Swann as an online-only publication called This Is Fake DIY, named after a song by Scottish indie pop band Bis and staffed largely by a freelance writing team from around the globe. Chvrches (stylised CHVRCHΞS and pronounced "Churches") are a Scottish synth-pop band from Glasgow, formed in September 2011. The band consists of Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook, Martin Doherty and, unofficially since 2018, Jonny Scott. Mostly deriving from the synth-pop genre, CHVRCHES also incorporate indietronica, indie pop, and electronic dance music, electronic dance into their sound. Barrowlands
The Barrowland Ballroom (also known as ''Barrowland'' and ''The Barras'') is an entertainment venue, dance hall and music venue located in the Calton, Glasgow, Calton district in Glasgow, Scotland. A prominent feature of the music scene in Glasgow, the venue has appeared in various elements of popular culture, notably tracks by Amy Macdonald and Simple Minds. History The original building opened in 1934 in a mercantile area east of Glasgow's city centre, built by Maggie McIver, the "Barras Queen". The area and the ballroom are named after the Glasgow Barrowland market. The building was completely rebuilt after being largely destroyed by fire in 1958, and reopened on 24 December 1960. South By Southwest
South by Southwest (SXSW) is an annual conglomeration of parallel film, interactive media, and music festivals and Convention (meeting), conferences organized jointly that take place in mid-March in Austin, Texas. It began in 1987 and has continued growing in both scope and size every year. In 2017, the conference lasted for 10 days with the interactive track lasting for five days, music for seven days, and film for nine days. Andrew David Jenkinson, known professionally as Ceephax Acid Crew, is a British electronic musician and record producer who works primarily in the acid house and drum and bass subgenres. Jenkinson is also known simply by the pseudonym Ceephax, which is a reference to the BBC teletext service Ceefax. He is the younger brother of Squarepusher (Tom Jenkinson). Music and career Jenkinson became interested in music at 12 years old when he would go into his brother's room and play his brother's SH-101. He started a rock band called "C-Fax", and kept the name for his later performances. Derwin Schlecker (born Derwin Dicker, 1980), professionally known as Gold Panda, is an English electronic record producer and songwriter. Derwin Dicker also performs house music as DJ Jenifa. Early life Derwin Schlecker was born as Derwin Dicker in 1980 in Peckham, London and was raised in Chelmsford, Essex. He lived in Japan and studied at the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London. The Twilight Sad
The Twilight Sad are a Scottish post-punk revival, post-punk/indie rock band, comprising James Graham (vocals), Andy MacFarlane (guitar), Johnny Docherty (bass), Brendan Smith (keyboards) and Grant Hutchison (drums). ''Rock Sound'' is a British magazine that covers rock music. The magazine aims at being more " underground" and less commercial, while also giving coverage to better-known acts.
