Ernst Majonica
Ernst Majonica (29 October 1920 – 21 July 1997) was a German politician of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and former member of the German Bundestag. Life Majonica joined the CDU and the Junge Union (JU) in 1946. From 1950 to 1955, he was the national chairman of the JU. Majonica was a member of the German Bundestag from 19 November 1950, succeeding Heinrich Lübke, until 1972. He represented the constituency of Arnsberg - Soest in parliament as a member of parliament who was always directly elected. Between 1979 and 1984, he was a member of the first directly elected European Parliament. Majonica was an outspoken supporter of the german NATOmembership. Daniel Koerfer:Kampf ums Kanzleramt. 1987. Bundestag
The Bundestag (, "Federal Diet (assembly), Diet") is the German Federalism, federal parliament. It is the only federal representative body that is directly elected by the German people. It is comparable to the United States House of Representatives or the House of Commons of the United Kingdom. The Bundestag was established by Title III of the Basic Law for the Federal Republic of Germany (, ) in 1949 as one of the legislative bodies of Germany and thus it is the historical successor to the earlier Reichstag (Weimar Republic), Reichstag. The members of the Bundestag are representatives of the German people as a whole, are not bound by any orders or instructions and are only accountable to their electorate. Christian Democratic Union Of Germany
The Christian Democratic Union of Germany (german: link=no, Christlich Demokratische Union Deutschlands ; CDU ) is a Christian democratic and liberal conservative political party in Germany. It is the major catch-all party of the centre-right in German politics. Friedrich Merz has been federal chairman of the CDU since 31 January 2022. The CDU is the second largest party in the Bundestag, the German federal legislature, with 152 out of 736 seats, having won 18.9% of votes in the 2021 federal election. It forms the CDU/CSU Bundestag faction, also known as the Union, with its Bavarian counterpart, the Christian Social Union in Bavaria (CSU). The group's parliamentary leader is also Friedrich Merz.
