Ernesto Bark
Ernst Moritz Heinrich Bark Schultz (1858–1922), known as Ernesto Bark, was a Livonian writer, journalist and political activist based in Spain. He took part in the Bohemian scene in Madrid. Biography Born on 23 March 1858 in Kaava, Laiuse, in the vicinity of Dorpart, then part of the Russian Empire. Regarding his self-identification, aside from presenting himself as a Livonian, he declared to have three nationalities: "the German one from an ethnographic standpoint, the Russian one from a political standpoint (and unfortunately) and the Spanish one because of affection and love". In any case, he also contextually self-identified as a Baltic German in his writings. He even declared to be "Polish" on some occasions. Pío Baroja dubbed him as a "Latvian revolutionary". Laiuse
Laiuse (german: link=no, Lais) is a small borough (') in Estonia. It is located in Jõgeva County and is a part of Jõgeva Parish. As of 2011 census, the settlement's population was 371.Laiuse Middle Schoolis one of the oldest in Estonia, being established in 1822. Laiuse is the location of the medieval Laiuse church. The church was first mentioned in 1319. In the church yard, there's an old lime tree, which was supposedly planted there by king Charles XII of Sweden during his visit in 1701. Baltic Germans (german: Deutsch-Balten or , later ) were ethnic German inhabitants of the eastern shores of the Baltic Sea, in what today are Estonia and Latvia. Since their coerced resettlement in 1939, Baltic Germans have markedly declined as a geographically determined ethnic group. However, it is estimated that several thousand people with some form of (Baltic) German identity still reside in Latvia and Estonia. ''El Liberal'' was a Spanish liberal newspaper published in Madrid between 1879 and 1936. It was one of the leading papers of Spain under the Restoration. Between 1890 and 1906, ''El Liberal'' was edited by Miguel Moya (1856–1920), a leading Spanish journalist who would go on to preside the holding company and to found the Asociación de la Prensa de Madrid, which he would also preside from 1895 to 1920.
