Ernest Saves Christmas
''Ernest Saves Christmas'' is a 1988 American Christmas comedy film directed by John Cherry from a screenplay by B. Kline and Ed Turner. It stars Jim Varney, Oliver Clark, Noelle Parker and Douglas Seale. It is the third film to feature the character Ernest P. Worrell and the second film in the ''Ernest'' series, after '' Ernest Goes to Camp'' (1987). The film chronicles Ernest's attempt to help find a replacement for an aging Santa Claus. It was released on November 11, 1988. It grossed $28.2 million, making it the highest grossing film in the ''Ernest'' series. John R. (born John Richbourg, August 20, 1910 – February 15, 1986) was an American radio disc jockey who attained fame in the 1950s and 1960s for playing rhythm and blues music on Nashville radio station WLAC. He was also a notable record producer and artist manager. Richbourg was arguably the most popular and charismatic of the four announcers at WLAC who showcased popular African-American music in nightly programs from the late 1940s to the early 1970s. (The other three were Gene Nobles, Herman Grizzard, and Bill "Hoss" Allen.) Lake Eola Park is a public park located in Downtown Orlando, Florida. Lake Eola is the main feature of the park. The Studio Backlot Tour was an attraction at Disney's Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. It was a combination of a walking and tram tour of the backlot area of the park. Originally the park's premier attraction, its final operating day, after years of downscaling, for newer experiences not announced at the time, was on September 27, 2014; the ride then closed September 28. Billie Bird Sellen (February 28, 1908 – November 27, 2002), better known professionally as Billie Bird, was an American actress and comedian. She played Margie in '' Dear John'' (1988–1992). William Bill Byrge (September 8, 1932 – January 9, 2025) was an American character actor and comedian, best known for his work as Bobby in various Ernest P. Worrell projects. Early life Bill was born in Campbell County, Tennessee, to Martha Bunch. Being born during the Great Depression meant limited food and as a child he was diagnosed with rickets due to a lack of a well-rounded diet. Byrge resided in Nashville. He famously never drove a car, as living downtown, everything was within walking distance, and because of his sentiments that people of Tennessee do not know how to drive.
