Ermo
''Ermo'' () is a Chinese comedy/drama film, released in 1994 and directed by Zhou Xiaowen. It is essentially a satire on Western consumerism and its influence on Chinese culture. It was adapted from a novella written by Xu Baoqi. Liu Peiqi
Liu Peiqi (; born 30 November 1957) is a Chinese actor. He started his training in 1979 when he joined Military Art School. He joined Military Drama Group in Xinjiang Province in 1983. In 1985 he starred in his first movie, ''Father and Son'', directed by Wang Bingling. After transferring to Beijing Military Drama Group, then the China National Drama Group, Liu starred in ''Days Without Leifeng'', directed by Lei Xianhe. For his performance, he was awarded the Golden Rooster for Best Actor (China's version of the Academy Award). Zhou Xiaowen (; born 1954 in Beijing) is a Chinese filmmaker. Jump Cut
A jump cut is a cut in film editing in which a single continuous sequential shot of a subject is broken into two parts, with a piece of footage being removed in order to render the effect of jumping forward in time. Camera positions of the subject in the remaining pieces of footage of the sequence should vary only slightly in order to achieve the effect. It is a manipulation of temporal space using the duration of a single shot, and fracturing the duration to move the audience ahead. This kind of cut abruptly communicates the passing of time as opposed to the more seamless dissolve heavily used in films predating Jean-Luc Godard's ''Breathless'', which made extensive use of jump cuts and popularized the technique during the 1960s.
