Erin is a personal name taken from the Hiberno-English word for Ireland, originating from the Irish word ''"Éirinn"''. "Éirinn" is the dative case of the Irish word for Ireland, "Éire", genitive "Éireann", the dative being used in prepositional phrases such as ''"go hÉirinn"'' "to Ireland", ''"in Éirinn"'' "in Ireland", ''"ó Éirinn''" "from Ireland". The dative has replaced the nominative in a few regional Irish dialects (particularly Galway-Connemara and Waterford). Erin Helena Maureen Anttila (; born 2 July 1977), better known as simply Erin, is a Finnish singer who rose to fame with the pop group Nylon Beat. Early life Erin Anttila was born in Helsinki, Finland, and is of Irish and Finnish descent, with an Irish mother and Finnish father. When she was three years old, her family moved to Ireland, where she began primary school. She finished school in Finland when the family returned three years later. Career At seventeen, she formed Nylon Beat with Jonna Kosonen. Albert William Lee (born 21 December 1943) is an English guitarist known for his fingerstyle and hybrid picking technique. Lee has worked, both in the studio and on tour, with many famous musicians from a wide range of genres. He has also maintained a solo career and is a noted composer and musical director. Early life Lee was born in Lingen, Herefordshire, but grew up in Blackheath, London, a member of a Romani family. His father was a musician, and Lee studied piano, taking up the instrument at age seven. During this time, Lee became a fan of Buddy Holly and Jerry Lee Lewis. Port Erin ( 'lord's port' or originally 'Irish port') is a seaside village in the south-west of the Isle of Man, in the historic parish of Rushen. It was previously a seaside resort before the decline of the tourist trade. Administratively it is designated as a village district, with its own board of Commissioners. The district covers around 1 square mile, and is adjacent to: Port St Mary to the south-east; the main part of Arbory and Rushen parish district to the north and east; the sea to the west; and an exclave of Arbory and Rushen parish district (including the village of Cregneash) to the south. Following recent residential expansion, the settlement is now contiguous with that of Port St Mary, and on 18 July 2018 Tynwald authorised a public enquiry into the proposed expansion of the district boundary to include some of this expansion. Erin is a town in Chemung County, New York, United States. The population was 1,820 at the 2020 census. The town was named by early settlers from Ireland. The town is east of Elmira and is along the county's northern border. It is part of the Elmira Metropolitan Statistical Area. History The area that would become the town was first settled before 1816. The town of Erin was formed in 1822 from the town of Chemung. The Scotchtown Cemetery was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008. The Erin Volunteer Fire Department was founded on May 5, 1955. Land donated by the late Merton Schanbacker was used to build the first fire station. Later in 1998 the current fire station was built adjacent to the original fire station. Érin () is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais department in the Hauts-de-France region in France. Situation Érin is a small village on the south side of the small river, the Ternoise which flows through St.Pol-sur-Ternoise and joins the River Canche at Hesdin. The geology of the area is like that of the Somme valley to its south. The Ternoise valley is the most northerly flowing in the syncline to the south of the Variscan front. Erin () is a town in Wellington County, approximately northwest of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Erin is bordered by the Town of Caledon, Ontario to the east, the Town of Halton Hills to the south, the Township of Guelph/Eramosa to the west and the Township of East Garafraxa to the north. The amalgamated town is composed of the former villages of Erin and Hillsburgh, both urban centres now, as well as the former Township of Erin (which contained the hamlets of Ballinafad, Brisbane, Cedar Valley, Crewson's Corners, Ospringe and Orton).
