Erika (film)
''Erika'' is a 1971 Italian drama film directed by Filippo Walter Ratti and starring Pierre Brice, Patrizia Viotti and Carla Mancini.Curti p.43 The film grossed over 300 million lire on release, but was then banned due to alleged obscene content. It was shot at the Elios Studios in Rome and on location around Faleria in Lazio. It was shot back-to-back with ''The Night of the Damned'', using the same sets. The art direction was by Elio Balletti. Synopsis A free-spirited young German woman arrives to stay with an aristocratic family in Sicily, causing havoc to their lives. Filippo Walter Ratti (1914–1981) was an Italian screenwriter and film director. After working as an assistant director for several years, he made his directoral debut in 1946. The following year he directed the biopic ''Eleonora Duse''. The Night Of The Damned
''The Night of the Damned'' ( it, La notte dei dannati) is a 1971 film directed by Filippo Ratti. Plot The married couple Jean and Danielle Duprey receive a letter from a prince, an old friend of Jean's. The letter is in the form of a riddle, which references ''Les Fleurs du mal'' by Charles Baudelaire, which the prince gave him years ago. The Dupreys decide to leave and go to the prince's castle where Rita Lernod, the prince's wife, tells them that her husband is very ill. The prince appears to be afflicted with a disease unfamiliar to his doctors. The prince says that the disease affects everyone in his family for three generations, over thirty-five years of age. The couple finds a strange painting featuring someone dying at the stake, disturbing Danielle. Danielle begins to have nightmares about dying at the stake. Carla Calò (21 September 1926 – 29 December 2019) was an Italian actress. Life and career Born in Palermo, Calò started her career on stage, notably starring in Luigi Squarzina's ''Il berretto a sonagli'', and also being active in dialectal theatre and avanspettacolo. She made her film debut in 1949, in Carlo Ludovico Bragaglia's ''Il falco rosso''. During the early part of her film career Calò played several main roles, then, from the second half of the 1950s, she became one of the most active character actresses in Italian cinema. She was sometimes credited as Carrol Brown. Calò died in December 2019 at the age of 93.
