Erik Viktor Almquist
Erik Viktor Almquist (7 March 1817 – 13 December 1872) was a Swedish politician. He was governor of the northern Swedish county of Vasterbotten. He improved Sami rights and brought forward legislation regarding forestry management. Life Almquist was born in Antuna, Eds County, Uppland, in 1817 to Carl Gustaf Almquist and his second wife Agnes Catherine Alten. His elder half-brother was the writer Carl Jonas Love Almqvist. Gustaf Munthe (1809–1889)
Gustaf Lorentz Munthe (3 July 1896 – 25 November 1962) was a Swedish writer, art historian and art teacher. He was head of Röhsska Craft Art Museum in Gothenburg from 1924 to 1945 and was also prolific as a writer of the museum's publications. During World War II, Munthe served as head of the M Group of the intelligence agency C-byrån in Gothenburg during World War II, helping the Norwegian resistance movement. He served as chairman and was a member of a number of associations, companies, foundations, guilds and societies. Early life Munthe was born on 3 July 1896 in Stockholm, the son of the president of the Court of Chamber Gustaf Fredrik Munthe and his wife Maria (née Wallin). Baggböle
Baggböle is a small village on the Ume River in northern Sweden, approximately upstream of the city of Umeå. The village was a base for sawing local timber in the nineteenth century, with a sawmill powered by the water of the river rapids close to the village. The sawmill at Baggböle was abandoned towards the end of the 19th century, but was in its heyday the largest water-powered sawmill in Sweden. The operations at the sawmill resulted in a new word in Swedish, ''baggböleri'', a term that originally meant illegal felling of timber in forests belonging to the Crown, but is now a pejorative term for 'reckless deforestation' (Swedish: ). Piteå () is a locality and the seat of Piteå Municipality in Norrbotten County, Sweden. Piteå is Sweden's 58th largest city, with a population of 23,326. Geography Piteå is located at the mouth of the Pite River ( sv, Piteälven), at the shore of the Bay of Bothnia. The central part is located on an islet called Häggholmen, which due to post-glacial rebound almost has become a part of the mainland; the land in northern Sweden rises at a rate of up to per year.
