Erik Ruus
Erik Ruus (until 1986 Erik Molodov, pseudonym Erik Moldov; 23 April 1962 – 22 April 2025) was an Estonian actor. Life and career Ruus was born on 23 April 1962. In 1982 he graduated from Viljandi Culture Academy. Between 1985 and 1995 and 1996 and 2009, he was an actor at the Rakvere Theatre. From 1995 to 1996, he was an actor at the Endla Theatre in Pärnu. Beginning in 2009, he was a freelance actor. Besides performing in stage roles, he also acted in films and television series. Ruus died on 22 April 2025, at the age of 62. University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy () is an Estonian institution of higher education, situated in the provincial town of Viljandi, central Estonia. The UT Viljandi Culture Academy merged with the University of Tartu in 2005. Rakvere Theatre is a professional theatre in Rakvere, Estonia. History Rakvere Theatre was established in the fall of 1921, when ''Rakvere Näitlejate Ring'' was formed. Endla Theatre
Endla () is a professional theatre in city of Pärnu, Estonia. The roots of the theatre came from Endla Society. The theatre opened in 1911. The first performance was ''Libahunt'' (The Werewolf) by the Estonian writer August Kitzberg. The Estonian Declaration of Independence was proclaimed from the theatre's balcony on 23 February 1918, one day before it was proclaimed in Tallinn. The theatre was destroyed by fire in 1944, and the Soviet authorities opted not to restore the theatre but to demolish it with explosives in 1961 due to it being an important symbol of Estonian independence. ''Firewater'' () is Hardi Volmer's history-based thriller released in 1994. ''Tulivesi'' is based on the historical situation in Estonia at the end of 1920s and sets a precedent of the struggle between the Estonian government and the spirit-smugglers. Synopsis In 1908, young Estonian politician Aleksander Kesküla ( Üllar Saaremäe) escaped from Estonia, then part of the Tsarist Russia Empire, to Switzerland, where he enrolled in the University of Bern. Kesküla is concerned about national oppression in the Russian empire, as is famous Russian exile and Bolshevik, Vladimir Lenin (portrayed by Viktor Sukhorukov). Lenin believes tsarist Russia to be " the prison of nations". When World War I breaks out, Lenin blames it on the Russian and German bourgeoisie.
