Erik Rasmussen (handballer)
Erik Veje Rasmussen (born April 9, 1959) is a former Denmark, Danish Team handball, handball player and handball coach who competed in the 1982 World Men's Handball Championship and 1984 Summer Olympics. In addition to Handball he is also an author and inventor of sports clothing. Playing Career Veje Rasmussen started playing handball at Vallekilde-Hørve, his local club. From there he moved to Danish top club Helsingør IF, and was the top goalscorer of the 1983 Danish Handball League season. After 2 seasons he moved abroad playing in both Germany, Switzerland and Spain. At St. Otmar he acted as player-coach in multiple instances. During the 1980's he was one of the central players at the Danish National Team. In 1984 he finished fourth with the Denmark men's national handball team in the Handball at the 1984 Summer Olympics, Olympic tournament. He played all six matches and scored 25 goals. Danish Handball League
The Danish Men's Handball League, formerly known as Herrehåndboldligaen is the men's top Danish professional handball league. The winners of the Danish Men's Handball League are recognised as the Danish men's handball champions. The current champions are GOG Håndbold. Season The Danish Men's Handball League season consists of 14 teams, each playing 26 regular season games. The eight best teams of the regular season advance to further games, where they are divided into two groups of four teams each. No. 1 and 2 from the regular season start with 2 points. No. 3 and 4 start with 1 point, while no. 5-8 start with no points. After these six games the two top teams in each group will play semifinals. In total, 27 handballers to date have scored 1000 or more goals for their national teams at senior level. A vast majority of the players who scored at least 1000 goals, are from the modern era of the sport. This is partly because fewer games were played at international level than today. Péter Kovács held the record for most goals scored, until Guðjón Valur Sigurðsson beat his record in 2018. France is the country with the most entries on this list, with four players having scored 1000 or more goals. Only two players on this list have played for two different federations. Frank-Michael Wahl scored 1338 goals for East Germany and 74 goals for the German national team, also Talant Duyshebaev, who scored for USSR, Unified Team and Russia and 569 goals for Spain.
