Erik Parlevliet
Erik Robert Parlevliet (8 June 1964 – 22 June 2007) was a Dutch field hockey player, who earned a total number of 155 caps, scoring 47 goals. Life Parlevliet was born in Zevenaar, Gelderland. With Holland he won the Hockey World Cup in 1990. He was a member of the Dutch national team at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, where the team won a bronze medal. Parlevliet also played for the Dutch in five Champions Trophy competitions. He died in Rosmalen Rosmalen () is a town in the province of North Brabant, in the south of the Netherlands. The town is located 6 kilometers east of the city of 's-Hertogenbosch (Den Bosch) and has been part of that municipality since 1996. Its population is around ..., aged 43. Field Hockey
Field hockey (or simply referred to as hockey in some countries where ice hockey is not popular) is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with 11 players in total, made up of 10 field players and a goalkeeper. Teams must move a hockey ball around a field by hitting it with a field hockey stick, hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal (sports), goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, although grass has become increasingly rare as a playing surface. Indoor hockey is usually played on a synthetic hard court or hardwood sports flooring, and beach version is played on sand. The stick has evolved significantly over the game's history in its composition and shape.
