Erica Kuligowski
Erica Kuligowski is an American social research scientist investigating human behavior during emergencies and the performance of evacuation models in disasters. She currently works at RMIT University, RMIT university in Melbourne (Australia). Kuligowski used to work the Engineering Lab of the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Early life and education Erica Kuligowski grew up in Baltimore and Forest Hill, Maryland. She attended high school near a fire station and thought about becoming a firefighter. While attending a program at University of Maryland College Park for women in STEM, Kuligowski watched a demonstration on fire modeling which inspired her to pursue fire protection engineering. Daniel Nilsson (academic)
Daniel Nilsson is a Swedish fire-safety engineer whose research centres on how people behave during building and wildfire evacuations. He is Professor of Fire Engineering at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand, and was head of its Civil and Natural Resources Engineering department from 2021 to 2024. Since 2014 Nilsson has represented Sweden on ISO Technical Committee 92/SC 4 ''Fire safety engineering'', chairing the subcommittee (2014–2022) and, from 2023, convening its working group on human behaviour in fire. Education Nilsson was raised in Lund. Enrico Ronchi (born 1984) is an Italian Associate Professor at the Department of Fire Safety Engineering at Lund University, Sweden. He is known for his research in evacuation modeling, human behavior in fire, and fire safety engineering. Early life and education Ronchi earned his Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering, Land Use, and Technological Innovation from the Polytechnic University of Bari, Italy, in 2012.
