Eric Wallace
Eric Wallace (16 July 1938 – 28 April 2004) was a reporter and presenter for Border Television and an independent film director in Cumbria, England. He was born in Carlisle and spent his whole life there. For over twenty years, he was the main anchor of the regional news programme, ''Lookaround''. Broadcasting career At the age of 27, Wallace left his first job at McVitie's biscuit factory in Carlisle (where he had worked for ten years) to take a three-year course in Film and Television at the College of the Venerable Bede at Durham University. On graduating, he joined Border Television on 9 September 1968 as a news reporter - he would remain at Border for the next 30 years, presenting ''Lookaround'' and many of the station's regional programmes, including his own chat show ''Wallace''. Border Television
ITV Border, previously Border Television and commonly referred to as simply Border, is the Channel 3 service provided by ITV Broadcasting Limited for the England/Scotland border region, covering most of Cumbria and Dumfries and Galloway, the Scottish Borders and parts of Northumberland. The TV service previously covered the Isle of Man from 26 March 1965 until 15 July 2009. Border Television was taken over by Granada plc in 2001 and a year later, as part of a network-wide re-launch, the name Border Television was dropped from on-air presentation, continuity and idents before networked programming in favour of the national ITV1 brand (ITV1 Border was used before regional programming). The licence for the region was transferred from Border Television to ITV Broadcasting Limited in November 2008. Michael Cumming
Michael Cumming is a British director and filmmaker. He is best known for directing comedy shows such as ''Brass Eye'', ''Toast of London'', ''Toast of Tinseltown'', The Mark Thomas Comedy Product, ''The Mark Thomas Product'', ''Snuff Box (TV series), Snuff Box,'' ''The Mark Steel Lectures'' and ''Rock Profile''. After graduating from the Royal College of Art film school in the late 1980s, Cumming began directing at the BBC on ''Tomorrow's World'' and then as a freelance director on shows including ''Lonely Planet'', The Word (TV series), ''The Word'' & ''The Sunday Show'' before moving into comedy. Brass Eye was his first comedy directing credit. Alongside comedy directing, Cumming also makes independent films. Fiona Armstrong, Lady MacGregor (born 28 November 1956), is a British television journalist and is Lord Lieutenant of Dumfries. She is also the author of several books and has written for newspapers and made television programmes on Scottish topics including fishing and Scottish clans. Early life Armstrong was born in Preston, Lancashire. As a child she lived for ten years in Nigeria, where her father was in the colonial service. Ian Breakwell
Ian Breakwell (26 May 1943 – 14 October 2005) was a British artist, active as a diarist, a draughtsman, a film-maker, a painter, a photographer and a print-maker. Life Breakwell was born on 26 May 1943 in Long Eaton, in Derbyshire. From 1961 to 1965 he attended the Derby College of Art, and then moved to London. Work Breakwell was part of the Artist Placement Group in the 1970s, and was for a time placed in the Department of Health and Social Security. He was sent to work in the psychiatric hospitals of Broadmoor in Berkshire and Rampton in Nottinghamshire; his film ''The Institution'', made in 1978 with Kevin Coyne, is based on these experiences. He died in London on 14 October 2005.
