Eric Semborski
Eric Semborski (born June 1, 1993) is an American ice hockey player who served as an emergency goaltender for the Chicago Blackhawks and Philadelphia Flyers during the 2016–17 NHL season. He was substituted onto the ice, but the move was disallowed by the referee because the primary goalie was not injured. Semborski also served as an emergency backup goalie for the Blackhawks on December 3, 2016 when Corey Crawford needed an emergency appendectomy. Semborski dressed for the game and sat on the Blackhawks' bench but did not make an actual appearance in the game itself. The Blackhawks later thanked Semborski by gifting him a custom goalie mask, personalized Topps trading card, and a brief video tribute at the United Center. Temple Owls
The Temple Owls are the athletic teams that represent Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The current athletic director is Arthur Johnson. The owl has been the symbol and mascot for Temple University since its founding in the 1880s. Temple was the first school in the United States to adopt the owl as its symbol or mascot. The owl, a nocturnal hunter, was initially adopted as a symbol because Temple University began as a night school for young people of limited means. Russell Conwell, Temple's founder, encouraged these students with the remark: "The owl of the night makes the eagle of the day." Tom Hodges (ice Hockey)
Thomas Hodges (born June 25, 1993) is a British-American life insurance salesman and amateur ice hockey player. He appeared for the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League (NHL) in the team's final game of the 2021–22 season as an emergency goaltender following injuries to both John Gibson and Anthony Stolarz. Early life Hodges was born in Shrewsbury, United Kingdom, but emigrated to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, and grew up playing youth ice hockey. Hodges was forced to abandon his aspirations of playing in the National Hockey League after taking an errant puck to the head at age 12, which caused him a decrease of vision in his left eye. He later attended Southern Methodist University and played club hockey there despite his injury, and later became a goalie coach of the Allen Americans of the ECHL. Jorge Alves (ice Hockey)
Jorge Alves (pronounced ''George Ahlves''; born January 30, 1979) is an American equipment manager for the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League (NHL). He is best known for playing goaltender for the Hurricanes at the very end of one game during the 2016–17 NHL season, 2016–17 season. With a total career playing time of 7.6 seconds, Alves' career is the shortest in NHL history. Early life Alves was born in Stoughton, Massachusetts, a twin brother in a Portuguese-American family. Scott Foster (born January 17, 1982) is a Canadian accountant and amateur ice hockey player. He appeared in one game for the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL) near the end of the 2017–18 season as an emergency goaltender following injuries to the team's starting and backup goaltenders, becoming the first emergency goaltender to be called into a game due to injuries in recent years. David Ayres
David Ayres (; born August 12, 1977) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender and current Head Coach of the Port Perry Lumberjacks of the Provincial Junior Hockey League. He achieved fame as the first emergency backup goaltender to record a National Hockey League (NHL) win. Ayres is also the oldest NHL goaltender to win his regular season debut. While working as a building operator for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Ayres became the Carolina Hurricanes' emergency goaltender during a 2020 game against the Maple Leafs. United Center is an indoor arena on the Near West Side of Chicago, Illinois, United States. Goaltender
In ice hockey, the goaltender (commonly referred to as the goalie) is the player responsible for preventing the hockey puck from entering their team's net, thus preventing the opposing team from scoring. The goaltender mostly plays in or near the area in front of the net called the '' goal crease'' (often referred to simply as '' the crease''). Goaltenders tend to stay at or beyond the top of the crease to cut down on the angle of shots. Corey Crawford
Corey Crawford (born December 31, 1984) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. Nicknamed "Crow" by teammates and fans, he played his entire professional career with the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL), who selected him in the second round, 52nd overall, of the 2003 NHL Draft. Crawford made his NHL debut for Chicago in 2006 and played with the team through the 2019–20 NHL season. He won the Stanley Cup and William M.
