Eric Pohlmann
Eric Pohlmann (; born Erich Pollak; 18 July 1913 – 25 July 1979) was an Austrian theatre, film and television character actor who worked mostly in the United Kingdom. He is known for voicing Ernst Stavro Blofeld, the primary antagonist of the ''James Bond'' series, in the films '' From Russia with Love'' and '' Thunderball''. Early life Pohlmann was born in Vienna, Austria-Hungary, and received classical actor training under the renowned director Max Reinhardt. He appeared at the Raimund Theater, and supplemented his income by working as an entertainer in a bar. In 1939, he followed his fiancée and later wife, actress Lieselotte Goettinger, into exile in London. Until mid-1941, both were kept in an internment camp. ''Lust for Life'' is a 1956 American biographical film about the life of the Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh, based on the 1934 novel of the same title by Irving Stone which was adapted for the screen by Norman Corwin. It was directed by Vincente Minnelli and produced by John Houseman. The film stars Kirk Douglas as Van Gogh, James Donald as his brother Theo, with Pamela Brown, Everett Sloane, and Anthony Quinn. ''Mogambo'' is a 1953 Technicolor adventure/ romantic drama film directed by John Ford and starring Clark Gable, Ava Gardner, and Grace Kelly, and featuring Donald Sinden. Shot on location in colonial British East Africa, Tanganyika, Uganda Protectorate and French Congo, with a musical soundtrack consisting almost entirely of traditional music recorded in Congo, the film was adapted by John Lee Mahin from the play ''Red Dust'' by Wilson Collison. The picture is a remake of '' Red Dust'' (1932), which was set in Vietnam and also starred Gable in the same role.
