The Erdöl-Erdgas-Museum Twist in Twist, Germany is a museum for crude oil and natural gas and shows technical equipment for mineral exploration of these natural energy resources and gives information about their geological origin. History In 1938 a gas rig found natural gas around the city of Bentheim. In early 1942 the rig LINGEN 2 found crude oil around the village of Dalum. These wells were the beginning of a long drilling history in the region. Later on the counties Emsland, Graftschaft Bentheim and the nearby Dutch province of Drenthe became one of the most important oil production areas for crude oil and natural gas in the whole of Europe. Because of this long historical connection between the region and the oil production the idea came up off founding a technical museum that shows how the oil production worked and still works. Nord Stream AG
Nord Stream AG is a consortium for construction and operation of the Nord Stream 1 submarine pipeline between Vyborg in Russia and Greifswald in Germany. The consortium was incorporated in Zug, Switzerland, on 30 November 2005. Since the first gas delivery in 2011, the company has transported over 450 billion cubic metres of natural gas to Europe. In 2020, the German Federal Network Agency highlighted again the Nord Stream Pipeline's contribution to security of energy supply in Europe. Gas deliveries ceased on 31 August 2022, officially for three days of maintenance. However on 2 September 2022, the company announced that natural gas supplies via the Nord Stream 1 pipeline would remain shut off indefinitely until the main gas turbine at the Portovaya compressor station near St Petersburg was fixed due to an engine oil leak. Lubmin () is a coastal resort in the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Lubmin is situated near Greifswald and on the Bay of Greifswald. Apart from tourism, Lubmin is a major transport and industry hub and investment location in the German energy sector. Vyborg (; , ; , ; , ) is a town and the administrative center of Vyborgsky District in Leningrad Oblast, Russia. Twist is a municipality in the Emsland district, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated directly on the Dutch border. Situation of the local parts in the municipality of Twist: More than half of the population lives in the center of the municipality (i.e. Twist-Siedlung and Bült). Heimathaus Twist
The Heimathaus Twist is a cross-community cultural center in the municipality of Twist, Germany well known and for blues and folk music concerts nationwide. Building The Heimathaus Twist is a complex of buildings and consists of four buildings in the traditional construction style of the Emsland county. The ''Handwerker-Haus'' (craftsman's house) is constructed in timber framing style and the second building is constructed as a brick building. Wooden beams from an old farm house were used from these houses. The timber-framed house and the wooden beams for the second building are from demolished farm houses in Heblermeer, a district in Twist, and were reconstructed in the center of Twist in 1980. The third build is a baking house that allows baking bread in a traditional way in a wood-fired oven. This house was constructed in 2003.
