Erdal Tosun
Erdal Tosun (9 April 1963 – 30 November 2016) was a Turkish actor. Biography Born in Istanbul to actor Necdet Tosun and the older brother of actor Gürdal Tosun, he graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 1982 and began his career mainly as a stage actor. During that time, Tosun worked alongside noted playwrights and directors such as Murathan Mungan, Yılmaz ErdoÄŸan and he was even featured in adaptations of plays written by American actor Woody Allen. He also appeared in over 40 films and 13 television shows during his lifetime. On screen, Tosun made his debut film appearance in the 1983 film '' Mine'', directed by Atıf Yılmaz and among his most renowned appearances was the 2010 film ''Rina''. As for television, Tosun appeared on the television series '' KardeÅŸ Payı''. This was one of his later performances before his death. ''My Father and My Son'' () is a 2005 Turkish drama film written and directed by Çağan Irmak about a family torn apart by the 1980 Turkish coup d'état. The film which went on nationwide release on became one of the highest-grossing Turkish films in history. Plot In order to study journalism at Istanbul University, Sadık leaves his village on the Aegean coast. This angers his father, Hüseyin, who wants him to study Agricultural Engineering so he can manage the family farm. During his years at university Sadık becomes a militant in left wing politics. Upon learning about Sadık's behavior, Hüseyin disowns him. However worse days are ahead for Sadık. In the early hours of the morning on 12 September 1980 Sadık's pregnant wife starts having contractions. The couple runs outside, but they can't find anyone to take them to the hospital, due to a curfew. The country has been taken over in a military coup.
