Erastus Shuumbwa
Erastus Shuumbwa (born 24 August 1974) is a Namibian businessman, farmer and politician. He served as a Member of the National Assembly of Namibia for the All People's Party since March 2020. He was the party's parliamentary chief whip. Shuumbwa was suspended from APP early this year and later joined Action Democratic Movement (ADM). Biography Erastus Shuumbwa was born on 24 August 1974 in Ondukutu, South West Africa. He studied law at Triumphant College. He is a businessman and a farmer. Parliament Of Namibia
The Parliament of Namibia is the national legislature of Namibia. It is a bicameral legislature and, thus, consists of two houses: the National Council (upper house) and the National Assembly ( lower house). All cabinet members are also members of the lower house. This situation has been criticised by Namibia's civil society and the opposition as creating a significant overlap between executive and legislature, undermining the separation of powers. The seniority of cabinet members generally relegate ordinary MPs to the back benches. From Namibian independence until 2014 the National Assembly consisted of 78 members, 72 members elected by proportional representation and 6 members appointed by the president. National Assembly Of Namibia
The National Assembly is the lower chamber of Namibia's bicameral Parliament. Its laws must be approved by the National Council, the upper house. Since 2014, it has a total of 104 members. 96 members are directly elected through a system of closed list proportional representation and serve five-year terms. Eight additional members are appointed by the President. Since 2015, SWAPO member Peter Katjavivi has been the Speaker of the National Assembly. Namibia's National Assembly emerged on Independence Day on 21 March 1990 from the Constituent Assembly of Namibia, following the elections of November 1989. All People's Party (Namibia)
The All People's Party (APP) is a political party in Namibia. Registered with the Electoral Commission of Namibia in January 2008, the party was initially made up primarily of former members of the Congress of Democrats and SWAPO political parties. Among the initial leaders were Chairperson Ignatius Shixwameni and Deputy Chairperson Stephanus Swartbooi. Ignatius Shixwameni, who had led the party since 2009, died on 10 November 2021. Action Democratic Movement Party (Namibia)
The Action Democratic Movement Party (ADM) is a political party in Namibia. It was founded in 2023 and has been recognized as a political party by the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) since May 2024. In the run-up to registration, Naeman Namwandi was named as party president, but he ruled out any connection to the ADM.
