The Equitable Life Building is a International style skyscraper in the Koreatown neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. It was completed in 1969 and has 34 floors. It is tied with the Los Angeles City Hall for the 36th tallest building in Los Angeles. Welton Becket & Associates designed the building for the Equitable Life Insurance Company. The facade is made of precast concrete that was sandblasted to expose the beige Texas limestone aggregate. The lobby of the Equitable Life Building hosts art in its vitrines. The Equitable Life Assurance Building, also known as the Equitable Life Building, was the headquarters of the Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States, at 120 Broadway in Manhattan, New York. Arthur Gilman and Edward H. Kendall designed the building, with George B. Post as a consulting engineer. The Equitable Life Building was made of brick, granite, and iron, and was originally built with seven above-ground stories and two basement levels, with a height of at least . An expansion in 1885 brought the total height to and nine stories. Construction began in 1868 and was completed in 1870 under the leadership of Equitable's president Henry Baldwin Hyde. It was the world's first office building to feature passenger elevators and consequently became successful attracting tenants. 100 Montgomery Street, also known as the Equitable Life Building, is an office tower located in the financial district of San Francisco, California. The , 25-floor tower was completed in 1955 and served as headquarters to the Equitable Life Insurance Company. Designed by William Peugh, 100 Montgomery Street is one of the first post-World War II office buildings in San Francisco, distinguished by classical white marble facade against aluminum art-deco window framing. It was purchased by developer Hines and its partner Sterling American Property in January 2006 for from EQ Office. Hines and Sterling sold the building to EQ Office, an affiliate of The Blackstone Group LP, for US$165 million in October 2012, who in turn sold it for a reported $285 million to the Vanbarton Group and a pension fund partner in 2016.
