Eple Trio
Eple Trio (initiated 2004 at Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo) is a Norwegian jazz trio including graduate students from the Norwegian Academy of Music (2008). Biography The trio has since its inception in 2004 produced four critically acclaimed albums, all of which have set the tone when it comes to the modern piano trio genre and expression. Through extensive touring in Europe and Asia, and faced with other musical traditions, the ensemble has during the 10-years developed a strong interaction, an interaction where collective schemes and a dynamic improvisation form blurs the traditional boundaries between composed and improvised music, and between the roles of soloist and accompaniment. The band comprises Andreas Ulvo (piano), Sigurd Hole (upright bass) and Jonas Howden Sjøvaag (drums), and they play modern jazz with elements of barock music and Scandinavian traditional music. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. The municipality of Oslo had a population of in 2022, while the city's greater urban area had a population of in 2019, and the metropolitan area had an estimated population of in 2021. During the Viking Age the area was part of Viken. Oslo was founded as a city at the end of the Viking Age in 1040 under the name Ánslo, and established as a ''kaupstad'' or trading place in 1048 by Harald Hardrada. Jon Eberson
Jon Arild Eberson (born 6 January 1953) is a Norwegian jazz guitarist and composer, the son of jazz guitarist Leif Eberson (1925–1970), and the father of keyboardist Marte Maaland Eberson. He was a member of the bands Moose Loose (1973–77), Radka Toneff Quintet (1975–80), and Blow Out (1977–78). Career Eberson had his debut recording as a guitarist on Ketil Bjørnstad's debut album ''Åpning'' (1972). In 1980 he formed the Jon Eberson Group, supported by vocalist and lyricist Sidsel Endresen. The group attracted attention with ''Jive Talking'' (1981), which was awarded the Spellemannprisen, and ''City Visions'' (1984), but disbanded in 1986. The following year he released the ''Eberson Pigs'' and ''Poetry'' with Endresen, and he has continued to be noticed in a variety of contexts like the Jazzpunkensemblet. Mathias Eick
Mathias Eick (born 26 June 1979) is a Norwegian jazz musician, and the brother of the jazz musicians Johannes Eick and Trude Eick. He is mainly known from his releases on the jazz label ECM Records. His main instrument is the trumpet, but he also plays upright bass, vibraphone, piano and guitar. He has performed with several well-known music groups and musicians, e.g. Jaga Jazzist, Manu Katché, and the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra together with Chick Corea and Pat Metheny. Besides this he is also known for his collaboration with Norwegian singer-songwriter Thomas Dybdahl, and recordings with the Norwegian bands Turboneger, DumDum Boys, Motorpsycho, D'Sound and Bigbang.
