Eordaikos Football Club (Εορδαϊκός Φ.Σ.) (former Ptolemaida-Lignitorikhi) is a football club based in Ptolemaida, Greece. History The club named Eordaikos 2007 is following the history of Eordaikos which is one of the better known football clubs in Western Macedonia. Eordaikos was created in 1978 from the merge of two Ptolemaida teams, the team of ''Aris Ptolemaidas'' with former presence in the second division and ''Ptolemaios'', playing in the second and third division of the Greek tier and having successful runs in the Greek cup. In 1996, the club due to serious financial problems merged with Iraklis Ptolemaidas and renamed to PAS Ptolemaidas. PAS Ptolemaida merged then with Anagenisi Ptolemaidas to form A.S. Ptolemaida . In 2004 the Club changes its and name for another time to PAE Ptolemaida-Lignitorikhi. Finally, in 2007, the administrative council decided to rename the Club to T.A.P. Eordaikos 2007. 2023–24 Gamma Ethniki
The 2023–24 Gamma Ethniki was the 42nd season since the official establishment of the championship in 1982 and the 3rd tier of Greek football after the restructuring of 2021. It has an amateur character, while the Hellenic Football Federation (HFF) is responsible for the conduct of the championship. The competition started on 17 September 2023 and concluded on 28 April 2024, and was conducted in four groups, in contrast to 2022–23 Gamma Ethniki, 2022–23 season, when it was conducted in five groups. 72 teams were participating and 30 of them were relegated at the end of the season. The groups were formed according to geographical criteria. Ptolemaida
Ptolemaida (, Katharevousa: Πτολεμαΐς, ''Ptolemaïs'') is a town and a former municipality in Kozani regional unit, Western Macedonia, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Eordaia, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. It is known for its coal (lignite) mines and its power stations. Name During the Ottoman period the city was called Kayılar (English: Kailar, German: Kajilar), rendered into English as ''Kaïlar''. The Greek Football Cup (), commonly known as the Greek Cup or Betsson Greek Cup for sponsorship reasons is a Greek football competition, run by the Hellenic Football Federation. The Greek Cup is the second-most important domestic men's football event, after the championship of Super League. Emilios Theofanidis (; 30 November 1939 – 7 February 1999) was a Greek professional footballer who played as midfielder and a later manager. Club career Theofanidis started football from Aris Ptolemaidas where he distinguished himself competing in the second division, while in 1963 he emerged as the top scorer in his respective group. In the summer of 1963, he took the big step of his career by transferring to the then Greek champion, AEK Athens. With the yellow-blacks, he played for 2 years, making his debut in the first division and remarkably, participated in both matches against Monaco for the qualifying phase of the European Cup, even scoring and 1 goal in the second leg in Athens on 2 October 1963 which ended 1–1.
