Survival Game
Survival games are a subgenre of action games which are often set in hostile, intense, open-world environments. Players generally start with minimal equipment and are required to survive as long as possible by finding the resources necessary to manage hunger, thirst, disease and/or mental state. Many survival games are based on randomly or procedurally generated persistent environments; more recently, survival games are often playable online, allowing players to interact in a single world. Survival games are generally open-ended with no set goals and often closely related to the survival horror genre, where the player must survive within a supernatural setting, such as a zombie apocalypse. Gameplay Survival games are considered an extension of a common video game theme where the player character is stranded or separated from others and must work alone to survive and complete a goal. Survival games focus on the survival parts of these games, while encouraging exploration of a ...

Action Role-playing Video Games
An action role-playing game (often abbreviated action RPG or ARPG) is a video game genre that combines core elements from both the action game and role-playing game genres. Definition Action role-playing games emphasize real-time combat where the player has direct control over the characters as opposed to turn or menu-based combat while still having a focus on character's stats in order to determine relative strength and abilities. These games often use action game combat systems similar to hack and slash or shooter games. The term "action role-playing game" may also describe action-adventure games, which include a mission system and role-playing game mechanics, as well as MMORPGs with real-time combat systems. History Several games prior to 1984 are considered precursors to the action RPG genre. Allgame cited ''Temple of Apshai'' (1979) and its sequel '' Gateway to Apshai'' (1983), ''Beneath the Pyramids'' for the Apple II (1980), ''Bokosuka Wars'' (1983), and ''Sword ...

Soulsborne
A Soulslike (also spelled Souls-like) is a subgenre of action role-playing games known for high difficulty level, large worlds filled with enemies and emphasis on environmental storytelling, typically in a dark fantasy setting. Japanese developer and publisher FromSoftware and director Hidetaka Miyazaki are largely considered to have created and established the genre, pioneering it with ''Demon's Souls'' (2009) and further popularizing with similar subsequent games, including the popular ''Dark Souls'' trilogy (2011-2016). Games influenced by FromSoftware's works led to the adoption of the "Soulslike" name by a number of critics and developers; Soulslike games developed by FromSoftware themselves are referred to as Soulsborne, a portmanteau of their ''Souls''-titled games and ''Bloodborne'' (2015). While the description is typically applied to action role-playing games, the core concepts of high difficulty, repeated character death driving player knowledge and mastery of the ga ...
