Enrique Oltuski
Enrique Oltuski Osacki (18 October 1930 — 16 December 2012) was a Cuban government minister who participated in the Cuban Revolution. Biography Oltuski was born in the city of Kobryn, then within the boundaries of Poland, currently part of Belarus. At four years of age Oltuski emigrated to Cuba with his father, a Jewish shoemaker. Enrique Oltuski studied at the University of Miami, where he joined Phi Iota Alpha. He graduated in 1954 with a degree in architectural engineering. Oltuski was later hired to work for Shell Oil Co. designing service stations throughout Cuba. While working for Shell Oltuski began collaborating with Fidel Castro in the guerrilla movement known as 26th of July Movement aimed at overthrowing president Fulgencio Batista. During the Cuban Revolution Oltuski was responsible for the operations of July 26 Movement in the province of Las Villas (now Villa Clara). Cuban Revolution
The Cuban Revolution ( es, Revolución Cubana) was carried out after the 1952 Cuban coup d'état which placed Fulgencio Batista as head of state and the failed mass strike in opposition that followed. After failing to contest Batista in court, Fidel Castro organized an armed Attack on the Moncada Barracks, attack on the Cuban military's Moncada Barracks. The rebels were arrested and while in prison formed the 26th of July Movement. After gaining amnesty the M-26-7 rebels organized an expedition from Mexico on the Granma (yacht), Granma yacht to invade Cuba. In the following years the M-26-7 rebel army would slowly defeat the Cuban army in the countryside, while its urban wing would engage in sabotage and rebel army recruitment. Manuel Urrutia Lleó
Manuel Urrutia Lleó (December 8, 1901 – 5 July 1981) was a liberal Cuban lawyer and politician. He campaigned against the Gerardo Machado government and the second presidency of Fulgencio Batista during the 1950s, before serving as president in the first revolutionary government of 1959. Urrutia resigned his position after only seven months, owing to a series of disputes with revolutionary leader Fidel Castro, and emigrated to the United States shortly afterward. Villa Clara Province
Villa Clara is one of the provinces of Cuba. It is located in the central region of the island bordering with the Atlantic at north, Matanzas Province by west, Sancti Spiritus Province by east, and Cienfuegos Province on the South. Villa Clara shares with Cienfuegos and Sancti Spiritus on the south the Escambray Mountain Range. Its main cities are Santa Clara (the capital), Remedios, Sagua La Grande, Camajuani, Caibarién, Ranchuelo, Placetas, and Manicaragua.
