Cyprus Basketball Division A
The Cypriot Basketball Division A is currently the top-tier level men's professional basketball competition of the Cypriot basketball league system. It is run and governed by the Cyprus Basketball Federation. Format At present, six clubs compete in the league. Since the 2016–17 season, the six teams play each other four times during the regular season, with the top 4 teams reaching the play-off semi-finals stage. One team (the last one) at the end of the season is relegated to the second division, whilst one team from the second division is promoted. The play-off semi-finals and the championship winner will be decided after three wins. The championship winner, along with the winners of the Cypriot Cup, will qualify to compete in the next season's FIBA's European-wide continental competitions. Paralimni
Paralimni ( el, Παραλίμνι) is a town within the Famagusta District of Cyprus, situated on the island's east coast. Since the Turkish invasion in 1974, it has increased in size and status, primarily due to the migration of refugees fleeing from the north. Many workers in the tourist sectors of Protaras and Ayia Napa live in Paralimni, which is now the temporary administrative centre of the Famagusta District and the biggest municipality of the district under the control of the internationally recognised Republic of Cyprus. Enosis Neon Paralimni Football Club ( el, Ένωση Νέων Παραλιμνίου, ''Enosi Neon Paralimniou'', "Youth Union of Paralimni"), commonly referred to as ENP, is a Cypriot football team from Paralimni. Currently playing in the first division, it holds home games at the Paralimni Municipal Stadium "Tasos Marcou", which holds 5,800 people. History Enosis Neon Paralimniou was founded in April 1944, following the merger of two Paralimni clubs, Heracles and People's Love. The club's emblem is the Parthenon, with a trumpeter and the year 1936 inscription, birth year of the club Heracles. The only reason why founders decided to adopt the year 1936 as the new club's birth year instead of the year 1944 has purely to do with Heracles official papers. Anthony Hickey (born November 22, 1992) is an American professional basketball player for Hapoel Haifa from the Israeli Basketball Premier League. High school career In high school, Hickey was named the 2011 Kentucky Mr. Basketball winner while playing for Christian County High School. His team also won the State Championship his senior year. College career LSU As a freshman for LSU in 2011–12, Hickey averaged 8.9 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. He started 31 of 33 games and played in a first round loss in the 2012 National Invitation Tournament.
