Enniskillen Lifeboat Station
Enniskillen Lifeboat Station is located on the south eastern shore of lower Lough Erne, approximately north of the town of Enniskillen, in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. Enniskillen (Lower) lifeboat station was established on 24 May 2001 by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). The station currently operates the Inshore lifeboat, ''John and Jean Lewis'' (B-912), on station since 2018. Ballinamallard
Ballinamallard or Bellanamallard (Flanagan, Deirdre & Laurence; ''Irish Place Names'', page 172. Gill & Macmillan, 2002. ) is a small village and townland in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. It had a population of 1,364 people in the 2021 Census. It lies to the north of Enniskillen and is within Fermanagh and Omagh district. The village has won several "best kept village" titles, and has a fountain to mark the honour. Since its inception, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) has provided lifeboats to lifeboat stations in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The service was established in 1824 as the Royal National Institute for the Preservation of Life from Shipwreck (RNIPLS), later to become the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) in 1854, and is operated largely by volunteers. Its headquarters are now at Poole in Dorset and it is a registered charity in both the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland. In the days before motor-powered vessels, lifeboat stations were established at strategic locations around the coast, often just a few miles apart, where sailing vessels were known to have been driven ashore in poor conditions. E-class Lifeboat
The E-class lifeboat forms part of the RNLI fleet in the United Kingdom, operating exclusively in the tidal reach of the River Thames in London. The class was introduced in 2002 to serve the tidal reach of the River Thames, which had not previously been covered by an RNLI rescue service, as a result of a much delayed inquiry into the Marchioness disaster in 1989, in which 51 people died. The inquiry criticised the lack of a rescue service for the tidal Thames, and the UK government asked the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, the Port of London Authority and the RNLI to work together to set up a dedicated Search and Rescue service for this stretch of the river. Carrybridge, also Carry Bridge, is a hamlet in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. It is north-west of Lisnaskea and south-east of Enniskillen. It is situated in the townland of Aghnacarra in the civil parish of Derrybrusk and the historic barony of Magherastephana. The hamlet is named from a bridge connecting the island of Inishmore in Upper Lough Erne with the mainland. The bridge is named from the townland of Carry on the island, which name translates as 'causeway' or 'rocky ford', perhaps referring to a feature replaced by the bridge.
