English Wilson "Bouie" Fisher (June 1, 1928 – June 30, 2011) was a boxing coach, who trained Bernard Hopkins Bernard Hopkins Jr. (born January 15, 1965) is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1988 to 2016. He is one of the most successful boxers of the past three decades, having held multiple world championships in two weight class ... for the majority of his career. Career Fisher was an amateur and professional boxer who coached Bernard Hopkins from 1989 until their split in 2002 which resulted in Fisher taking Hopkins to court, claiming he was underpaid by $255,000. They re-united in 2003, and split again in 2005, again with Fisher claiming to be underpaid, this time by $200,000. Naazim Richardson, Fishers long-term assistant, took over as Hopkins' head coach from 2005. Awards Fisher won the Eddie Futch-John F.X. Bernard Hopkins
Bernard Hopkins Jr. (born January 15, 1965) is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1988 to 2016. He is one of the most successful boxers of the past three decades, having held multiple world championships in two weight classes, including the undisputed championship at middleweight from 2001 to 2005, and the lineal championship at light heavyweight from 2011 to 2012. Hopkins first became a world champion by winning the vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) middleweight title in 1995. He compiled 20 defenses against 17 opponents, with 19 wins as a result of his no-contest bout against Robert Allen. In 2001, Hopkins successfully unified the middleweight division by defeating Félix Trinidad to win the World Boxing Association (WBA) ( Super version), World Boxing Council (WBC), ''Ring'' magazine and lineal titles. Naazim Richardson
Naazim Richardson (November 26, 1965 – July 24, 2020) was an American boxing trainer from Philadelphia. Richardson is most notable for training Bernard Hopkins and "Sugar" Shane Mosley, in addition to Steve Cunningham and Karl Dargan. He is also known for catching Antonio Margarito with plaster knuckle pads in his hand wraps prior to Margarito's fight with Mosley. This led to Margarito's one-year suspension from boxing. Early life Richardson was raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and left home when he was 14. He was jailed as a teenager. According to ''The New York Times'', "Boxing took Richardson from the streets that almost swallowed him in north Philadelphia, gave him energy and purpose." He was a head trainer in the Concrete Jungle in Philadelphia, and was also a trainer in several gyms across Philadelphia. Richardson worked under Bouie Fisher for a while. The Eddie Futch-John F.X. Condon Award, commonly referred to as the Futch–Condon Award and known alternatively as the Boxing Writers Association of America Trainer of the Year Award, has been conferred annually since 1989 by the Boxing Writers Association of America on the trainer, irrespective of nationality or gender, adjudged by the membership of the Association to have been the best in boxing in a given year.
