''Enga Pattan Sothu'' () is a 1975 Indian Tamil-language Western film produced, written, directed and photographed by M. Karnan. It was released on 24 January 1975, and emerged a commercial success. Jaishankar
Jaishankar (12 July 1938 – 3 June 2000) was an Indian actor known for his work in Tamil cinema. He was a very popular lead actor in the 1960s and 70s. He was credited onscreen with title of ''Makkal Kalaingnar'' (people's artiste) or ''Makkal Thamizhan'' (people's Tamil) in most films starring him. He was also referred to as ''Thennakathu James Bond'' (South Indian James Bond) because of his roles in films such as '' Vallavan Oruvan'' and '' CID Shankar''. Biography Jaishankar, whose real name was Shankar hailed from Kumbakonam, but was born in Thirunelveli to parents Subramaniyan Iyer who was the Judge of Thirunelveli court and Yogambal on 12 July 1938. Jaishankar did his schooling in P.S. Higher Secondary School, Mylapore, and completed his graduation from The New College, Chennai, where he was awarded an honours degree. ''Ganga'' is a 1972 Indian Tamil-language Western film directed and filmed by M. Karnan. The film stars Jaishankar and Rajakokila. It was released on 15 January 1972, and became a commercial success. Plot Kathirvelu, a reformed robber, lives with his wife and son. He raises his son Ganga to be a brave warrior, but Ganga develops a penchant for women and alcoholism. Kathirvelu, one day, sees his son in an drunken state. Enraged, he expels him from the house. At this juncture, his past life comes back in the form of his gang. They force him to join their gang, but Kathirvelu refuses, and he is murdered in front of his wife. Ganga comes to perform the last rites of his father. Eastman Color Negative (ECN) is a photographic processing system created by Kodak in the 1950s for the development of monopack color negative motion picture film stock. It is part of the Eastmancolor family of products sold by Eastman Kodak. The original process, known as ECN-1, was used from the 1950s to the mid-1970s, and involved development at approximately 25°C for around 7–9 minutes. ''Jakkamma'' is a 1972 Indian Tamil-language Western film directed and filmed by M. Karnan. The film stars Jaishankar, Savitri and S. A. Ashokan. It was released on 14 September 1972. Plot Jakkamma and Ponnambalam, a married couple, live happily with their two sons — Babu and Raja — in a village. The village is constantly raided by a notorious robber Kali and his gang. In trying to save the village and its people, Ponnambalam is murdered by Kali. Jakkama raises both her sons valiantly and teaches them to fight against injustice. Jakkama is abducted by Kali and kept captive as a prisoner. Babu and Raja befriend Jambu, a friend and sympathiser of the poor and with his help, they rescue their mother. ''Kalam Vellum'' () is a 1970 Indian Tamil-language Western film produced, filmed and directed by M. Karnan. The film stars Jaishankar, Vijayakumari and Vijaya Lalitha.
