Enemy Within (album)
''Enemy Within'' is the seventh solo studio album by English singer-songwriter and guitarist Chris Spedding. The album was originally released in October 1986, on the label New Rose Records in France, and in Germany on Date Records. The album was recorded over a period of three years starting in 1982, at three different recording studios. It was the six-year follow-up to his 1980 album ''I'm Not Like Everybody Else''. The album features contributions from Tom Finn, Anton Fig, Jimmy Zoppi, David Van Tieghem, and Keith Lentin. The album was his last recording of original material for four years, until he released ''Cafe Days'', in 1990. When the album was released in late 1986, it received mixed reviews, and went largely unnoticed by the public, being a commercial disappointment, and even missed the album charts worldwide, alike all of his solo albums (to date). Christopher John Spedding (born Peter Robinson, 17 June 1944) is an English guitarist and record producer. In a career spanning more than 50 years, Spedding is best known for his studio session work. By the early 1970s, he had become one of the most sought-after session guitarists in England. Spedding has played on and produced many albums and singles. He has also been a member of eleven rock bands: the Battered Ornaments, Frank Ricotti Quartet, King Mob, Mike Batt and Friends, Necessaries, Nucleus, Ricky Norton, Sharks, Trigger, and the Wombles. In May 1976, Spedding also produced the first Sex Pistols recordings. Frederick Albert Heath (23 December 1935 – 8 October 1966), known professionally as Johnny Kidd, was an English singer-songwriter, best remembered as the lead vocalist for the rock and roll band Johnny Kidd & the Pirates. He was one of the few pre-Beatles British rockers to achieve worldwide fame, mainly for his 1960 hit, "Shakin' All Over". Biography Frederick Albert "Freddie" Heath was born in 1935 in Willesden, North London, England. He began playing guitar in a skiffle group in about 1956. The group, known as "The Frantic Four" and later as "The Nutters", covered primarily skiffle, pop and rockabilly. "Shakin' All Over" is a song originally performed by Johnny Kidd & the Pirates. It was written by leader Johnny Kidd, and his original recording reached No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart in August 1960. The song is sometimes credited to Frederick Albert Heath, which is Kidd's real name. Kidd's recording was not a hit outside Europe. In other parts of the world the song is better known by recordings from other artists. A version by Chad Allan and the Expressions, later known as The Guess Who, was recorded in December 1964. John Cale
John Davies Cale (born 9 March 1942) is a Welsh musician, composer, and record producer who was a founding member of the American rock band the Velvet Underground. Over his six-decade career, Cale has worked in various styles across rock, drone, classical, avant-garde and electronic music. John Cale studied music at Goldsmiths College, University of London (UoL), before relocating in 1963 to New York City's downtown music scene, where he performed as part of the Theatre of Eternal Music and formed the Velvet Underground. Bob Montgomery (May 12, 1937 – December 4, 2014) was an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and publisher. Career Montgomery was born in Lampasas, Texas southwest of Waco, Texas, Waco. He was a songwriting partner and best friend of Buddy Holly and they performed together as the duo "Buddy and Bob" while teenagers in high school. Initially they played a variety of bluegrass music, which evolved into rockabilly sounds. Montgomery met Holly at Hutchinson Junior High School in Lubbock, Texas, in 1949. They started playing together at School assembly, school assemblies and on local radio shows. Montgomery sang lead and Holly harmonized. Charles Hardin Holley (September 7, 1936 – February 3, 1959), known as Buddy Holly, was an American singer, songwriter, and musician who was a central and pioneering figure of rock and roll. Love's Made A Fool Of You
"Love's Made a Fool of You" is a song co-written and originally performed by Buddy Holly. It was later re-recorded by Sonny Curtis and the Crickets, with the lead vocal by Earl Sinks, and famously covered by the Bobby Fuller Four. Buddy Holly first wrote the song in 1954. It was not until 1958 that it was recorded, as an Everly Brothers demo, which was not released until 1964 on the posthumous ''Showcase'' LP. The first public release of "Love's Made a Fool of You", however, was by the Crickets, headed by Sonny Curtis in 1959. It was released as a single from ''In Style with the Crickets'', and stayed on the UK Singles Chart for two weeks, peaking at number 26. The Crickets' version, without Holly, was accidentally included on the 1972 compilation album ''Buddy Holly: A Rock and Roll Collection''; the same mistake was made on 1997's ''The Very Best of Buddy Holly''. Marshall Crenshaw
Marshall Howard Crenshaw (born November 11, 1953) is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and guitarist best known for hit songs such as " Someday, Someway", a US top 40 hit in 1982, " Cynical Girl", and " Whenever You're on My Mind". He is also the co-author of one of the biggest radio hits of the 1990s, Gin Blossoms's " Til I Hear It from You". His music has roots in classic soul music and Buddy Holly, to whom Crenshaw was often compared in the early days of his career, and whom he portrayed in the 1987 film '' La Bamba''. Mark Freuder Knopfler OBE (born 12 August 1949) is a British musician. He was the lead guitarist, singer and songwriter of the rock band Dire Straits from 1977 to 1995, and he is the one of the two members who stayed during the band's existence, along with the bassist John Illsley.
