Endtime Signals
''Endtime Signals'' is the thirteenth studio album by Swedish melodic death metal band Dark Tranquillity, released on 16 August 2024 by Century Media Records. The album is the band's first to feature bassist Christian Jansson and drummer Joakim Strandberg Nilsson, who replaced longtime members Anders Iwers and Anders Jivarp after the latter two left the band in August 2021. The album features two songs co-written by two former band-members, one by the late Fredrik Johansson and the other by Niklas Sundin. The album also marks the band's return to recording as a five-piece after the previous album, '' Moment'', was recorded as a six-piece. Dark Tranquillity
Dark Tranquillity is a Swedish melodic death metal band from Gothenburg. They are considered one of the pioneering acts of the Swedish death metal, Gothenburg metal scene, which also includes bands such as In Flames and At the Gates - regarded as the Gothenburg fathers in the film entitled ''Out of Nothing: A DT Documentary'' released by Century Media, which was filmed in their home town in April 2009. After a nearly three-decade long collaboration of four founding members frequent lineup changes between 2016 and 2021 have left only vocalist Mikael Stanne as an original member, together with long-time keyboardist Martin Brändström. Mikael Stanne
Bengt Mikael Stanne (born 20 May 1974) is a Swedish musician, best known as the vocalist, primary lyricist and a former guitarist for the melodic death metal band Dark Tranquillity. Since the departure of original drummer Anders Jivarp in 2021, Stanne is the only remaining original member of the band. Stanne is also the vocalist for bands Grand Cadaver, The Halo Effect (band), the Halo Effect and Cemetery Skyline, which formed in 2020, 2021 and 2023, respectively. He was also an ex-vocalist for HammerFall and In Flames. Sverigetopplistan (, lit. "the Sweden top list") is the Swedish national record chart, based on sales data from IFPI Sverige. It was formerly known as Topplistan (1975–1997) and Hitlistan (1998–2007) and has been known by its current name since October 2007. Before Topplistan, music sales in Sweden were recorded by Kvällstoppen, whose weekly chart was a combined albums and singles list. Johan Reinholdz
Johan Reinholdz (born 30 June 1980) is a Swedish guitarist known for his work with the progressive metal band Andromeda (Swedish band), Andromeda, and melodic death metal bands Dark Tranquillity, NonExist and Skyfire (band), Skyfire. He composed Andromeda's debut album, ''Extension of the Wish'', as well as much of its other material. He has also released four more studio albums with Andromeda and two live albums. In 2004, Reinholdz joined Skyfire and made his album debut on ''Esoteric (album), Esoteric'' in 2009. Since early 2017, he has played with Dark Tranquillity. Niklas Sundin
Niklas Sundin (born 13 August 1974) is a Swedish musician, best known as a founding member and former lead guitarist of the melodic death metal band Dark Tranquillity from 1989–2020. In 2019, he founded his own band called Mitochondrial Sun, which has released three full-length studio albums to date. He is also a member of Time and the Hunter, a project founded in collaboration with Italian musician Enrico Longhin. He was a guitarist in the metal band Laethora from 2005–2010. In Dark Tranquillity, he was one of only two members (the other being drummer Anders Jivarp) to maintain his role, unlike the other members who have or had switched. Melodic Death Metal
Melodic death metal (also referred to as melodeath) is a subgenre of death metal that employs highly melodic guitar riffs, often borrowing from traditional heavy metal (including New Wave of British Heavy Metal). The genre features the heaviness of death metal but with highly melodic or harmonized guitar riffs and solos, and often features high-pitched shrieked vocals (differing from traditional death metal) alongside the low-pitched growls commonly featured in traditional death metal. Pioneered by the English heavy metal band Carcass with their 1993 album '' Heartwork'', melodic death metal developed further in Sweden (developed by bands like At the Gates, Dark Tranquillity, and In Flames) in the mid-1990s.
