EndeavourOS
EndeavourOS is an Arch Linux-based Linux distribution. EndeavourOS began as a successor to Antergos, a discontinued distribution also based on Arch Linux. It uses the same rolling release schedule as Arch Linux, but periodically releases updated installation media (Optical disc image, ISO files). As of February 10, 2025, the most recent release is "Endeavour Mercury". History EndeavourOS began as a continuation of the Antergos Linux distribution, a distribution itself based on Arch Linux, a general-purpose Linux distribution. In May 2019, Antergos' developers abruptly announced that development on the project would cease; a moderator of Antergos' forums discussed the idea of maintaining the community on a new forum. The idea received support from within the community, and within a day other Antergos moderators joined the project. Antergos
Antergos is a discontinued Linux distribution based on Arch Linux. By default, it includes the GNOME desktop environment, but it also offers options for Cinnamon (desktop environment), Cinnamon, MATE (desktop environment), MATE, KDE Plasma 5, Deepin, and Xfce desktops. Originally released in July 2012 as Cinnarch, it quickly gained popularity and was ranked among the top 40 most popular distributions on DistroWatch by June 2013. The name ''Antergos'' derived from the Galician language, Galician word for ''ancestors'', was chosen "to link the past with the present". Calamares (software)
Calamares is a free and open-source independent and "distribution-agnostic" system installer for Linux distributions. About Calamares is used by NixOS, CachyOS, Garuda Linux, Huayra_GNU/Linux, Manjaro, Netrunner, KaOS, KDE neon, Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Sabayon Linux, Chakra, EndeavourOS, Peppermint OS, Artix Linux, OpenMandriva Lx, Q4OS, the ''Live'' medium of Debian, TUXEDO OS and several less known Linux distributions. Cinnamon (desktop Environment)
Cinnamon is a free and open-source desktop environment for Linux and other Unix-like operating systems, which was originally based on GNOME, GNOME 3, but follows traditional desktop metaphor conventions. The development of Cinnamon began by the Linux Mint team as the result of the April 2011 release of GNOME 3, in which the conventional desktop metaphor of GNOME 2 was discarded in favor of GNOME Shell. Wayland is a communication protocol that specifies the communication between a display server and its clients, as well as a C library implementation of that protocol. A display server using the Wayland protocol is called a '' Wayland compositor'', because it additionally performs the task of a compositing window manager. Sway (window Manager)
Sway is a tiling window manager and Wayland compositor, inspired by i3, and written in C. Sway is designed as a drop-in replacement for i3 using the more modern Wayland display server protocol and wlroots compositor library. Sway works with existing i3 configuration files and supports most of i3's features while providing several new features of its own. Sway's default controls for manipulating windows are similar to vi. Window focus is controlled by a combination of the Super key and one of the arrow keys or h, j, k, and l. Openbox
Openbox is a free, stacking window manager for the X Window System, licensed under the GNU General Public License.
