Enda McGowan
Kieran Enda McGowan (1946 – 15 June 2022) was an Irish Gaelic footballer who played at club level with Ballyhaise and at senior inter-county level with the Cavan county team. He usually lined out as a wing-back. Career McGowan began his inter-county career at minor level with Leitrim, before having a lengthy career as a member of the Cavan senior team. He won Ulster SFC titles in 1967 and 1969. McGowan also played in the Ulster finals in 1968, 1976, and 1978, the latter as team captain. His achievements with Cavan were acknowledged with his being named as a replacement All-Star, while he also won Railway Cup medals with Ulster in 1970 and 1971. With his club Ballyhaise, McGowan won a Junior League medal, a Cavan IFC medal and played in the Cavan SFC final in 1978. After his playing days concluded, he was a selector for the Cavan senior team which reached the 1983 Ulster final, but lost out against Donegal. Death McGowan died on 15 June 2022, aged 75. Ballyhaise GAA
Ballyhaise is a Gaelic football and Ladies' Gaelic football club based in the village of Ballyhaise, County Cavan, Ireland. History The club's first championship success came in 1968, winning the Intermediate championship. Ballyhaise contested the Senior championship finals of 1976 and 1978, but came up short on both occasions. After losing the finals of 2008 and 2014, Ballyhaise claimed their second Intermediate title in 2015, beating Arva by two points in the final. After suffering relegation from Senior in 2016, Ballyhaise lost further Intermediate finals in 2017, 2021, and 2022. Competing in their third final in a row, Ballyhaise won the Intermediate final in 2023, beating Denn by 0–13 to 0–7. With wins over Na Dúnaibh and Glenullin, Ballyhaise reached the final of the Ulster Intermediate Club Football Championship for the first time. The Cavan Senior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association club competition between the top Cavan Gaelic football clubs. It was first competed for in 1888. Cavan ( ; ) is the county town of County Cavan in Ireland. The town lies in Ulster, near the border with County Fermanagh in Northern Ireland. The town is bypassed by the main N3 road that links Dublin (to the south) with Enniskillen, Ballyshannon and Donegal Town (to the north). The Dr McKenna Cup is an annual Gaelic football competition played between counties and universities in the province of Ulster. It is the secondary Gaelic football competition based in Ulster behind the Ulster Senior Football Championship, and the fourth most important inter-county competition in which Ulster counties take part, behind the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Ulster Championship and the National Football League. The 1969 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 83rd staging of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county Gaelic football tournament. The championship began on 4 May 1969 and ended on 28 September 1969. Down entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were defeated by Cavan in the Ulster final. On 28 September 1969, Kerry won the championship following a 0-10 to 0-7 defeat of Offaly in the All-Ireland final. This was their 21st All-Ireland title, their first in seven championship seasons. 1967 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship
The 1967 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 81st staging of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter county, inter-county Gaelic football tournament. The championship began on 23 April 1967 and ended on 24 September 1967. Galway GAA, Galway entered the championship as the 1966 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, defending champions, however, they were defeated by Mayo GAA, Mayo in the Connacht semi-final. On 24 September 1967, Meath GAA, Meath won the championship following a 1-9 to 0-9 defeat of Cork GAA, Cork in the All-Ireland final.
