Encuentro Oceanía is a super-regional mall in the Venustiano Carranza borough of Mexico City, around 5 km east of the Zócalo. It is located along the main thoroughfare, Avenida Oceanía, around 1 km west of the Circuito Interior inner ring highway, and around 2 km west of Terminal 1 of the Mexico City International Airport. It is across the street from Romero Rubio metro station. Anchor stores include the first IKEA store in Mexico, which opened in April 2021. The store measures across 3 levels with entrances off all 3 floors of the mall. Romero Rubio Metro Station
Romero Rubio is an elevated station on Line B of the Mexico City Metro system. The station serves the ''Colonia Moctezuma 2a Sección'' and ''Colonia Romero Rubio'' neighborhoods of Venustiano Carranza borough in Mexico City. The logo for the station is a bust of Manuel Romero Rubio, who was Secretary of the Interior under President Porfirio Díaz and a founding member of the Científicos – a group of advisors to the President, as well as Díaz's father-in-law. The station was opened on 15 December 1999. From 23 April to 28 June 2020, the station was temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Mexico. A shopping mall (or simply mall) is a North American term for a large indoor shopping center, usually anchored by department stores. Venustiano Carranza, Mexico City
Venustiano Carranza is a borough (''demarcación territorial'') in the Mexico City. Venustiano Carranza extends from the far eastern portion of the historic center of Mexico City eastward to the Peñón de los Baños and the border dividing the then Federal District from the State of Mexico. Historically, most of the territory was under Lake Texcoco, but over the colonial period into the 20th century, the lake dried up and today the area is completely urbanized. Zócalo
The Zócalo () is the common name of the main square in central Mexico City. Prior to the colonial period, it was the main ceremonial center in the Aztec city of Tenochtitlan. The plaza used to be known simply as the "Main Square" or "Arms Square", and today its formal name is Plaza de la Constitución (''Constitution Square''). This name does not come from any of the Mexican constitutions that have governed the country but rather from the Cádiz Constitution, which was signed in Spain in the year 1812. Even so, it is almost always called the ''Zócalo'' today. Plans were made to erect a column as a monument to Independence, but only the base, or ''zócalo'' (meaning "plinth"), was built. The Circuito Interior Bicentenario ("Bicentennial Inner Loop") or more commonly, Circuito Interior or even more simply Circuito, is a 42-km-long (26 mi) urban freeway (in parts) and at-grade boulevard (in others), forming a loop around the central neighborhoods of Mexico City. Chedraui is a publicly traded Mexican grocery store and department store chain which also operates stores in the U.S. in the states of California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Nevada under the name El Super.
