Empfangshalle
Empfangshalle (literally ''lobby'') is the name of a German performing art duo. It was founded by Corbinian Böhm and Michael Gruber in Munich ( Germany) in 1995. Medium of their works is the society. They perform their art projects in the open, especially in popular places. Their art projects - more often than not - are a mystery to the viewers and often cause confusion. A typical example was the staged "Gei hin hol" '' ei: hi:n ho:l' mega-poster action with incomprehensible foreign language messages in Munich (2005). Corbinian Böhm
Corbinian Böhm (born Munich, 7 August 1966) is a German painter, installation artist and sculptor. Biography Böhm has grown up with five siblings in Harlaching, a borough of Munich. One of his brothers is the ski mountaineer Benedikt Böhm. After finishing his secondary education with the abitur he studied art history at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich until 1990. Afterwards he first graduated from an apprenticeship as sculptor (wood, stone) and then he was majoring in sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich. He was taught there by Hans Ladner, Pia Stadtbäumer, Antony Gormley, Timm Ulrichs, Asta Gröting and Rita McBride. Since 1995 he is working with his partner Michael Gruber under the name Empfangshalle. In 2000 he got his "Meisterschüler" diplom (comparable with a Master of Fine Arts degree). Michael Gruber (born 1965 in Mallersdorf, Germany) is a German painter Painting is the practice of applying paint, pigment, color or other medium to a solid surface (called the "matrix" or "support"). Corbinian Böhm, Michael Gruber
Saint Corbinian ( la, Corbinianus; french: Corbinien; german: Korbinian; 670 – 8 September c. 730 AD) was a Frankish bishop. After living as a hermit near Chartres for fourteen years, he made a pilgrimage to Rome. Pope Gregory II sent him to Bavaria. His opposition to the marriage of Duke Grimoald to his brother's widow, Biltrudis, caused Corbinian to go into exile for a time. His feast day is 8 September. The commemoration of the translation of his relics is 20 November. Life Corbinian was born and baptized as Waldegiso at Châtres, near Melun, in Frankish territory. He was named after his father, who may have died when Corbinian was an infant. Soon after his father's death, his mother Corbiniana renamed Waldegiso to "Corbinian", after herself. Nothing else is known of his childhood. The early source for Corbinian's life is the ''Vita Corbiniani'' of Bishop Arbeo of Freising.
