Emperor Yes are a band from London. They have released three singles and an album. They have toured with Emmy the Great and Tim Wheeler, and Tall Ships. For both the singles "Wasps", which has been used as the opening theme to the podcast No Such Thing as a Fish since the first episode, and "Cosmos" they have released videos and held exhibitions of art based on the songs. "Cosmos" was produced by Summer Camp's Jeremy Warmsley with a video directed by Chris Boyle, and has been played by Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1. "Wasps" is the theme tune to the weekly '' QI'' podcast ''No Such Thing As A Fish'' and its TV spin-off ''No Such Thing as the News''. Psychedelic Pop
Psychedelic pop (or acid pop) is pop music that contains musical characteristics associated with psychedelic music. Developing in the late 1960s, elements included "trippy" features such as fuzz guitars, tape manipulation, backwards recording, sitars, and Beach Boys-style harmonies, wedded to melodic songs with tight song structures. The style lasted into the early 1970s. It has seen revivals in subsequent decades by neo-psychedelic artists. Characteristics According to AllMusic, psychedelic pop was not too "freaky", but also not very " bubblegum" either. It appropriated the effects associated with straight psychedelic music, applying their innovations to concise pop songs. Synthpop
Synth-pop (short for synthesizer pop; also called techno-pop; ) is a subgenre of new wave music that first became prominent in the late 1970s and features the synthesizer as the dominant musical instrument. Alcopop! Records is a British independent record label, run by Jack Clothier and Kevin Douch formed in 2006 when the pair lived together in East Oxford. The label works with the likes of DZ Deathrays, Johnny Foreigner, Fight Like Apes, Anamanaguchi, Peaness, TIGERCUB, Gaffa Tape Sandy, The Spook School, Nelson Can, and QI. Inception Alcopop! Records was formally created after a small loan was gambled on the Charlton vs Portsmouth match of 16 September 2006, with money for the first release and show generated from a successful bet on the match. This money was invested in a band from Yeovil called Encyclopedia, with the first single "Emily" (Alcopop001) kicking off the 2006/7 singles club (which also included the likes of Midget, data.select.party and 4 or 5 Magicians). Tall Ships (band)
Tall Ships were an English indie rock band, formed in 2009 whilst studying in Falmouth and based in Brighton, England. The band was composed of lead singer/guitarist Ric Phethean, bassist/backing vocalist Matt Parker, drummer Jamie Bush and keyboardist James Elliot Field. The band released two EPs and their debut album ''Everything Touching'' via Big Scary Monster Records before disappearing for three years. They released their second album ''Impressions'' in February 2017. The band announced their disbandment in September 2017 and performed three farewell shows across England in the following December. Summer Camp (band)
Summer Camp were a British indie pop duo, formed in October 2009 by married couple multi-instrumentalist Jeremy Warmsley and vocalist Elizabeth Sankey. They are signed to the Moshi Moshi Records, Moshi Moshi label on which they have released all four of their full-length albums, as well as three EPs and a film soundtrack. Summer Camp's musical style has been described as "21st-century alt.pop", but also is influenced by 1960s girl groups and 1980s synthpop. The lyrics, written by Sankey, are often quite dark and deal with failed relationships, conflicts, treasure and teenage obsessions. Along with the band's artwork and music videos they also draw heavily from American culture from the 1960s–1980s. They started after recording a cover version of I Only Have Eyes for You, a song which Elizabeth had included on a mixtape given to Jeremy. Chris Boyle (director)
Christopher Boyle (born 11 August 1972 in Glasgow, Scotland) is a Fellow of the British Psychological Society, Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and professor of inclusion and educational psychology at the University of Adelaide.
