Emmen () is a List of municipalities of the Netherlands, municipality and town of the Provinces of the Netherlands, province of Drenthe in the northeastern Netherlands. History A planned city, Emmen arose from several small farming and peat-harvesting communities which have dotted the Provinces of the Netherlands, province of Drenthe since the Middle Ages. Traces of these communities can still be seen in the form of the villages of Westenesch, Noordbarge and Zuidbarge: they have a separate history and layout but are surrounded by the suburbs and the center of Emmen. The expansion of the town did not happen until after the Second World War. FC Emmen
FC Emmen is a Dutch professional football club based in Emmen, Drenthe. They currently play in the Eerste Divisie, the second tier of Dutch football, following relegation from the Eredivisie in the 2022–23 season. Founded in 1925, the club entered the professional Eerste Divisie in 1985. In 2018, Emmen were promoted to the Eredivisie for the first time. Home games are played at De Oude Meerdijk. History The amateur club Emmen was formed on 21 August 1925. When the Dutch professional league was formed in 1954, Emmen opted to maintain its amateur club status instead. In 1985, Emmen finally joined the professional ranks. In 1988 the club was split into an amateur and a professional section. Dalfsen
Dalfsen (; Dutch Low Saxon: ) is a municipality and a town in the Salland region of the Dutch province of Overijssel. The municipality of Dalfsen was increased to its current size on 1 January 2001 through the amalgamation of the municipalities of Nieuwleusen and Dalfsen. A variety of Sallands is spoken here by segment of the population. History The name first appears in documents in 1231. Due to the closeness of Kasteel Rechteren, Dalfsen is one of several towns along the Overijssel section of the Vecht river never to have received city rights. In 2015, archaeologists found a burial ground dating from the TRB-period (3000-2750 BC) containing 141 burial pits. The TRB dates back to the last phase of the Middle Neolithic period, which is known for its megalithic monuments in northern Europe. Emmen is a village and municipality in the district of Hochdorf in the canton of Lucerne in Switzerland. The municipality Emmen consists of the village Emmen, the town Emmenbrücke, and several hamlets. History Emmen is first mentioned in 840 as ''Emau'' in a document of King Lothair I of Bavaria. For centuries the region was ruled by the Murbach Abbey in Vosges. In 1291 the municipality came under Habsburg rule. After the Battle of Sempach in 1386 the Habsburg's lost Emmen and it became part of the Canton of Lucerne. Emmen also took part in the Swiss peasant war of 1653. Since 1803, Emmen is part of the Hochdorf District and is its most populous municipality.
