Emmanuel Tjeknavorian
Emmanuel Tjeknavorian (born 22 April 1995 in Vienna, Austria) is an Austrian violinist and conductor. His father, Loris Tjeknavorian is the Iranian-Armenian composer and conductor. Awards and competitions In 2012, he represented Austria at the Eurovision Young Musicians contest. In September 2014, Tjeknavorian was the first Austrian to make it to the final round in the history of the Fritz Kreisler Competition, where he won third place. In November 2014, he received the Casinos Austria Rising Star Award. Gewandhaus () is a concert hall in Leipzig, the home of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra. Today's hall is the third to bear this name; like the second, it is noted for its fine acoustics. Loris Haykasi Tjeknavorian (; ; born 13 October 1937) is an Iranian Armenian composer and conductor. He has appeared internationally as a conductor, serving as the principal conductor of the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra from 1989 to 1998 and later from 1999 to 2000. As a composer Tjeknavorian has written 6 operas, 5 symphonies, choral works, chamber music, ballet music, piano and vocal works, concerti for piano, violin, guitar, cello and pipa, as well as music for documentary and feature films. Among his best known works are the opera '' Rostam and Sohrab'', based on the story of Rostam and Sohrab from Ferdowsi's ''Shahnameh'', and the ballet ''Simorgh''. After study at the Vienna Music Academy, with Carl Orff at the Salzburg Mozarteum and the University of Michigan, he taught at the Tehran Conservatory. International Jean Sibelius Violin Competition
The International Jean Sibelius Violin Competition, named after Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, is a competition for violinists up to age 30. It is held every five years in Helsinki. The first competition took place in year 1965, eight years after the death of the composer to mark the centenary of the composer's birth. The competition is arranged by the Sibelius Society of Finland and the Sibelius Academy. The competition has always had high-level competitors, and winners such as Oleg Kagan, Viktoria Mullova, and Leonidas Kavakos have become internationally performing soloists.
