Emmanuel Malou
Emmanuel Martin Malou (born 3 November 1993) is a South Sudanese-Australian professional basketball player who last played for Bangui Sporting Club. Early life Malou was born in Kenya to a Sudanese father and Ethiopian mother. He moved with his parents and two siblings to the Australian city of Melbourne, Victoria, in 1996. Malou did not initially like basketball but it became the focal point of his life when he had a growth spurt to during his early teenage years. In 2010, Malou convinced his parents to allow him to move to the United States so he could attend St. Thomas More School in Oakdale, Connecticut, for its basketball program. He returned to Australia after the conclusion of the school year and suffered a knee injury while attempting a dunk that sidelined him for months. Malou did not return to St. Thomas More and instead stayed in Australia while attending Box Hill Senior Secondary College. The South Sudan men's national basketball team is the national basketball team representing South Sudan. It was established in May 2011, and became a member of FIBA in December 2013. They are nicknamed the Bright Stars. The most recently founded national basketball team in FIBA, South Sudan has already played at one AfroBasket tournament in 2021 and the 2023 FIBA World Cup, and at the 2024 Summer Olympics. Road To BAL
The Road to BAL, also known as the BAL Qualifying Tournaments, are the qualifying tournaments of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). While the main tournament is co-organised by FIBA and the NBA, the organization of the qualifiers is completely done by FIBA. The first qualifying rounds began on 16 October 2019 during the 2021 BAL qualification. The qualifiers are geographically divided into the West and East Division, with three teams qualifying out of each division. Semi-finals and finals are played to determine the winners of the qualifying tournaments. 2024 BAL Qualification
The qualification for the 2024 BAL season, also known as Road to BAL 2024, was the 4th edition of the Road to BAL, qualifying tournaments for the Basketball Africa League (BAL). The tournaments were organised by FIBA Africa and are held from 3 October to 26 November 2023. The format was the same as to the previous seasons, with the competition divided in the group phase and the elite 16. In the West Division, Bangui Sporting Club won the division and became the first team from the Central African Republic to qualify.
